🚀Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz goes #Montenegro! The project meeting for Danube Indeet took place in Ulcinj, Montenegro, on 12th and 13th September 2024. Our colleagues Darja Markova and Jovana Winkler had the pleasure to represent the Energieinstitut an der JKU Linz. 🙌 It was exciting to gain insights into the progress of the project and to engage in discussions with the invited stakeholders on the topics of green hydrogen 💧 and electric mobility 🔋. One focus was our legal workshop ⚖️, led by our colleagues: The workshop discussed the current legal and policy frameworks in the participating countries to identify similarities and differences. 🔍 The #project not only includes legal analyses but also an acceptance analysis aimed at exploring public approval of hydrogen and e-mobility in the upcoming years. A €4 million EUROCLIMA project will support renewable hydrogen trade, focusing on electricity transmission and certification. 🇨🇦 Canada has officially joined Horizon Europe, the world’s largest research and innovation program with a budget of €93.5 billion for 2021-27. This partnership, signed by Iliana Ivanova, EU Commissioner for Innovation, and François-Philippe Champagne, Canadian Minister of Innovation, enables Canadian and European researchers to collaborate in fields such as climate, energy, digital economy, and health. 🇨🇱 Fundación Empresarial Eurochile has launched the Ecomondo 2024 fair in Chile, inviting companies from the sustainability and circular economy sectors to join their mission to Italy. The launch event highlighted opportunities in waste management, energy efficiency, and resource recovery, gathering participants including public authorities and companies. 🇹🇹 European Business Chamber in Trinidad and Tobago proudly announces the release of its first newsletter. As a member of the Global Gateway Business Advisory Group, we have been discussing the developments of the Global Gateway toolbox with the European Commission and other industry participants over the past months. But what exactly does this mean for markets and countries? At the recent Germany Trade & Invest webinar, our Policy and Regulation Manager Erhan Erdogan discussed just that with his fellow panelists!  In developing sectors, such as the hydrogen economy, the implementation of projects depends heavily on economic factors, but not only. Often bilateral agreements between countries or energy partnerships can guide market participants by aligning policies, regulations and reducing trade barriers. To facilitate this, we expect a diverse toolbox of support possibilities from the Global Gateway initiative, like the establishment of international partnerships, simplified access to European instruments/funding, strategic orientation and the creation of a resilient market environment that enables investments. We also believe that cooperation with strategic regions is important, such as the MENA region, which is currently receiving little attention.  The Global Gateway Initiative in general has a lot of potential as it aims to provide both financial and regulatory support to industries such as the hydrogen industry. We look forward to contributing to the further development of the initiative and communicating the needs of the private sector.
