Mitigating the impact of a mining project on the #localenvironment is a core part of our values. At IAMGOLD, we were able to re-route a portion of the Mollie River to achieve the construction of the Côté Gold #mine through replacement and preservation of fish habitat. Watch our video and listen to Genevieve Sulatycky, Superintendent Environment at Côté as she walks us through the colossal work required to realign the Mollie River, which ultimately led to the creation of Oshki Lake to compensate for fish habitat loss during construction. The river realignment and the creation of the lake were crucial steps during the Côté Gold mine’s construction and demonstrate our firm commitment to managing our impacts on the #environment in a responsible way. Regulators, contractors and our First Nations #partners were also involved every step of the way. #ZeroHarm ▶️ Watch our video: https://lnkd.in/gnCb97EK

Great work IMG on a key piece of work required to unlock the Cote Gold deposit. Kudos to Geoprocess Research on a great design and field supervision.

Congrats Gen and team. Fish habitat compensation and offsetting is such a critical part of any new project near natural waterways and getting it right can set the project and fish and aquatic ecosystems up for long term success. On to the post construction monitoring!
