#SharingMyReserachOnSSTETS. #HomedeliveryofantiretroviraltoHIVclientsadmistcovid19andinsecuritychallengesarandomizedcontrolledtrial. DOI: 10.26502/jppch.74050090 This study explored the successes recorded in the fight against HIV and great setbacks was seen as a result of challenges due to insecurity and COVID -19 pandemic. In 2019 access to antiretroviral was affected due to insecurity and COVID 19 challenges in the country and these disruption patterns reversed the progress made in the fight against HIV. A randomized control trial was done in 2019 to 2023 and it explored the feasibility of the delivery of antiretroviral medication to patients’ home. At the end of the study, patients' viral load were supressed. They were satisfied with the delivery model and were willing to pay for it. #SSETS #ForeignCommonwealthandDevelopmentOffice, #LancasterUniversity, #Britishcouncil,#NigeriaUniversityCommision #EnuguStateUniversityofScienceandTechnology #ChikeAnibueze #AkanimoOdon #ViolaAkhigbe

I would like to thank the organizers Universitas Udayana (UNUD) for the opportunity to present a research poster related to "Resistant Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Increases the Incidence of HIV, Mpox, and Sexually Transmitted Infections: Analysis of Barriers and Challenges using Bibliometric Surveillance (https://lnkd.in/gGj2M7wX)". This poster provides information on the importance of maintaining the consumption of PrEP that has been used to prevent +HIV infection. However, several reports have revealed that a large proportion of at-risk populations disregard regular PrEP consumption and continue to engage in risky relationships on the grounds that they are "already on PrEP and therefore free from HIV infections.". Recently, there have been many reports that individuals who are not consistently taking PrEP have increased the incidence of HIV, along with MPX and STIs. #Pernasjphiv2023 #Bali

This webinar by CORE - Community Response to Reduce Inequalities, includes recommendations by the WHO to modernise testing algorithms to expand screening and for prompt linkage to care, and addresses Western Blot testing in the context of other effective and cheaper options to confirm an HIV diagnosis. WHO provides an overview on the diagnostics landscape for cost-effective testing in community settings. Participants will discuss ways in which to increase testing capacity of service providers. The needs assessment, conducted among CORE’s 14 community-based organisations across 12 European countries, revealed that testing kits used could be more cost-effective to save resources and scale up testing. Speakers: Cheryl Johnson – WHO Headquarters, Geneva and Viatcheslav Grankov – WHO European Region Office, Copenhagen. https://lnkd.in/grestuRe

IAS Conference key take aways # Ending HIV pandemic 1.U=U {undetectable HIV viral load is untransmittable HIV virus -programming to reduce incidence of HIV towards epidemiological eradication } 2.Long acting ART-Improving sustainable cost effective adherence 3.Eradicating and increasing treatment of STIs -removing pathological drivers of HIV transmision per heterosexual exposure to HIV . 4.Early cost effective diagnosis of Tuberculosis by increasing access and utilization of digital CXR ,TB the biggest driver of mortality (life years lost )among people infected with HIV. 5.Strategically branding HIV prevention services to be youth Friendly per locality -improving Concentration of payments ( investments) to youth Friendly centres and hence improving concentration of utilization of HIV prevention services towards the youth who are disproportionately affected by new hiv infections.Improving life time loyalty of use of HIV prevention services by at risk youth ,making the progressivity of financing of HIV youth Friendly centres more positive . The work is huge ,complex but very achievable.

Achieving cervical cancer elimination requires monitoring prevention and care services for high-risk groups like women living with HIV. Our assessment of HIV clinics in sub-Saharan Africa reveals existing services, but inadequate patient and programme monitoring. Health information systems and WHO tools should be used to improve access and track progress. Dr. Thanes Vanig writes how he saw his first case of HIV as a medical student in Bangkok, and what an effect it had on him. The beginning of the HIV epidemic could be compared to the COVID-19 pandemic when the disease was an alarming mystery. However in 1996, just one year before Spectrum Medical Care Center opened its doors, a major medical breakthrough changed everything for people with an HIV-positive diagnosis. You could now survive HIV, thanks to the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy. The healthcare industry went from regularly losing patients to seeing patients live full lives. We now have the tools and medicine to treat people living with HIV as well as those who are at risk of acquiring HIV but it is the responsibility of those of us in healthcare to spread this awareness. Empower your patients to take control of their health by educating them on the importance of regular testing, clinic visits and safe sex. Tryptophan’s dark journey: how the Kynurenine pathway fuels HIV’s hidden dangers. Uncover the secrets to fight a "metabolic war" against HIV. It's easy to understand on the graphic how the Kynurenine pathway can cause HIV-Associated Mitochondrial Dysfunction (HIVAMD) and accelerated aging on PLWH on ART. There is something wrong with the Quinolinate Phosphyribosyl Transferase (QPRT) enzyme on PLWH otherwise most of the Quinolinic acid would transform to NAD(+) ("De-novo" pathway). I think chronic inflammatory states like HIV lean the pathway toward 3HK, 3HAA, and Quinolinic acid formation with LESS NAD(+) production. Like an intracellular pellagra state?. I think that potentially we can manipulate this.... Figures subject to copyright
