Happy International Women’s Day! As always it's an important day - but as I always say let's not think about inclusion on this one day; One off events do not create the inclusive culture that we all strive for. At pladis, we recognise that achieving true equality means creating an inclusive environment where all colleagues feel that they belong and are valued. This requires us to understand and address the unique circumstances and challenges faced by each individual. It's not simply about providing equal opportunities; it's about taking equitable actions that acknowledge and accommodate diverse starting points. And we all know that actions speak louder than words.... These themes played a key part in our global activities this year. On Monday, we hosted a panel discussion led by Mark Randall featuring Chief HR Officer, Geraldine Fraser, Director of Insights for UK&I, Anne Collard, Shopper Insights Controller for UK&I, David Turner and Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Board member, Stevie Spring CBE. Together they discussed the importance of allyship, how an inclusive environment positively impacts all colleagues and creates a high-performing organisation, and how we can all do our bit to alleviate bias. 🌍 Embracing Diversity 🌈 Every year in May, European Diversity Month is celebrated to highlight the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in society. At Knorr-Bremse we believe in fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. As we celebrate Diversity Month, we reaffirm our commitment to creating a workplace that embraces people from all walks of life. Our holistic diversity strategy underscores our commitment to equal opportunities and inclusion at all levels. 👉 But to move forward, you also need to focus. We’re currently concentrating more strongly on specific dimensions of diversity: As many employees will retire in the next five to ten years, the dimensions of #AgeAndGeneration as well as #Internationality require our special attention in 2024. In an engineering-driven environment, we also continue to focus on #GenderDiversity, which has been our focus dimension since 2022. Bring everyone along in the fight against climate change 🌐 💚 Last week, during National Inclusion Week, our very own Jennifer Manning wrote a piece about the inclusivity gap in our industry, especially when it comes to marketing sustainable messages, products and services. As revealed in the recent WPP ‘Consumer Equality Equation’ report, sustainability is an important issue to all respondents, but in particular those from minority ethnic groups. Jen's article says that our collective creativity and passion for diversity and inclusion as an industry needs to shine. And we should apply a basic marketing principle to drive behaviour change on a mass scale - relevancy.
