Maintaining currency and competency in clinical nursing care, as well as the laws, regulations, and policies specific to school health care can be challenging for school nurses. Professional development offered within their work setting is often not applicable, and it is up to the individual to seek out what they need via government agencies, peer-reviewed journals, and professional or nonprofit organizations. In addition to the wealth of resources provided by the National Association of School Nurses and state-level nursing associations, I wanted to make sure school nurses were aware of The Center for School Nurse Professional Development and Education at School Health Associates LLC. They provide no-cost/low-cost resources and professional development, as well as consultation for school districts, schools, and school nurses to improve the health services provided to students. As educators, it's crucial to remember that our well-being is just as important as our dedication to our roles. To all teachers, principals, school nurses, and everyone in between, don't forget to prioritize self-care. #Education #SelfCare #WellBeing

Federation Uni is called out in this article for being ranked as a high risk for admitting too many non genuine students, but they were also the nursing school with the largest increase in graduates from 2016 to 2022. They recently recorded a drop off in nursing commencements and I guess this probably explains why. Have there been concerns with graduate quality? If so I think that should be an ANMAC response rather than home affairs, and with a view to improving courses rather than reducing students. And if there aren't graduate quality issues then it seems like we are cutting off nose to spite our face here. Does it ultimately matter if they had higher drop out rates if they achieved the best overall increase in the training pipeline? #nursing #education #agecare #healthcare https://lnkd.in/gaK3nzNj

#Healthcare is extremely personal and relationship-based at its core. Engaging at this level with populations is what drives the needle. If we all do our part, we'll create the change we all want to see. Join us on this journey! #business #hr #benefits #insurance #school #superintendent #schoolnursing #students #impact
School Nursing Program Impact Alert! What a gift to receive the following feedback this week: Chloe - our newest nurse- shared in our L10 that she had a conversation with [School's Name] principal the other day. He said that originally he "actively voted against having school nurses and thought it was a waste of money. In just the last month of her being there I have become a true school nurse believer and supporter. I cannot be happier and more grateful to have school nurses!" When it comes to impact and outcomes there is no secret sauce. For us, it all boils down to authentic, relationship-based care. Being intentional about meeting people where they are and demonstrating, through our actions and words, how much we care. #Impact #Engagement #SchoolNursing #StudentHealth #Relationships

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 275,000 additional #nurses are needed from 2020 to 2030. In Utah, there are fewer than seven nurses per 1,000 people, making the state the lowest number per capita in the nation. To address the #nursingshortage, former #Utah Governor Mike Leavitt declared that “we have to find ways of changing the way medical #education works." Western Governors University is doing just that through its expanded pre-licensure program. Their state-of-the-art learning labs provide hands-on experience, and as Leavitt stated, “The thought that we can see 3,000 nurses a year trained (in the Utah lab) is a profound joy.” Learn more about how WGU is empowering nurses with online competency-based education at https://bit.ly/3TRMKyf.

There are so many people to honor today. It's both NATIONAL SCHOOL NURSE DAY & NATIONAL THIRD SHIFT WORKERS DAY - Each year on on the Wednesday of National Nurses Week honors all school nurses who care for the children in the schools every day. School nurses promote learning through healthy children. School nurses are often the first place a student thinks to go when they don't feel well or have been hurt. But they also provide a wealth of information that supports a successful education as well. Also, each year, National Third Shift Workers Day on the second Wednesday in May recognizes the workers who face the night to keep businesses running, hospitals staffed, and streets safe. However, not all third shifts are in business. Hospitals, first responders, and nursing homes work 24 hours a day, too. Metropolitan areas of any size have employees working overnight to ensure the safety and reliability of water, power, and other infrastructure. Kudos to both sets of professionals. We are lucky to have them. #nationalschoolnurseday #thirdshiftworkersday #winstonwednesdaywisdom #learnmorein2024
