KIHOMAC is proud to announce that the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) has issued the Airworthiness Certification for MXU-1072/A today! The certification was the final hurdle needed to field the first purpose-designed pod to support the USAF's Agile Combat Employment (ACE) Doctrine. We are well on our way to delivering the first 130 pods ordered by the Air Force's F-35 FMO last September, with the initial delivery planned for early April 2024. The Advanced Travel Pod Certification represents a very significant milestone in our Company history as this is the first product we have taken from an idea on the back of a napkin through design, development, testing, manufacturing, and certification… so to say we are excited is an understatement! Nearly four years ago, we identified a need in the F-35 Program and presented the challenge to our Engineering and Manufacturing Team to solve the problem. Our Team tackled the challenge of designing and testing a modern travel pod that provides a solution to and supports the needs of the F-35, including a full set of environmental qualification tests. The Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office performed a detailed analysis, along with ground and flight tests to recommend certification. AFFTC conducted a flight test with two MXU-1072A, one empty and one fully loaded, mounted to the internal weapons bays. Problem Solved!
Thanks. We need everything we can get to ensure successful ACE movements. I'm sure this will help tremendously.
So proud of this team! Solving tough problems is in their DNA!
Congratulations! Great to see the FMO and their KBR support team reach another milestone toward enabling the warfighter on this and multiple other initiatives! #KBR
