The intent-signal space is taking off right now with new technology that's making it easier than ever to capture who is in market, but acting on intent is still hard. I recently got to meet the teams at Pocus and Koala at PLGTM and my brain kind of opened up to a new way of thinking: Three categories sit in a marketing tech stack at this point: intent tools, action tools, and tools that connect intent to action (Clay, Inflection.io, HubSpot) Looking at it from this lens - there are a TON of intent signals to capture, but there are a limited number of actions you can take when you have intent: Email/Call (Outreach, Apollo.io, Smartlead) LinkedIn Message Direct Mail/Gift (Sendoso) Get a connected introduction (Cabal) If you're capturing intent, but not utilizing every action channel, you're likely missing out on varying levels of qualified buyers. #MarTech #MarketingAutomation

Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking with Grigoriy (Greg) Kogan, VP of Marketing and Growth at Pinecone on a Tofu AMA. Greg discussed how they navigated the complex terrain category creation and product-led growth (PLG) to become a leader in vector databases - a term they coined from scratch. Here are key takeaways that B2B marketers should note: 1. Patience and Persistence in Category Creation: Building a new category like "vector database" required extensive research, lots of testing, and a year-long commitment before it resonated and started getting adopted within the machine learning infrastructure sector. 2. Everyone should be talking about “intent” and “signals”. Arguably the best intent or signal is what someone is actually doing in your product. One of the most informative parts of #PLGTM was Nylas talking about how they are using Inflection for event based nurturing. There are so many plays companies can run to drive more product usage and expansions - especially if you have usage or seat-based pricing. Marketing teams should take their strategies for content download nurturing and apply them to customer nurturing to drive more revenue using product activity. Inflection.io makes that a lot easier!
