https://wp.me/p8cDQ4-dnJ Sanctuary to Prison: Women's Rights Under Taliban Rule! Its August 26th, 2024, Here I am, in Kabul, Afghanistan, my homeland—yet, the sense of safety that should come with the word "home" has dissolved into a haunting uncertainty. The comfort I once found in these walls has been replaced by a chilling choice: to leave everything behind or to remain silent, as if lifeless. We believe home is where we feel secure, where we seek refuge from danger. But now, even within my own home, I am gripped by fear—fear of being taken, imprisoned, or worse. Can I still call this place my home? What once was my sanctuary now feels like a prison, confining my hopes and dreams, suffocating the very essence of what home is meant to be. ➡ Granting Pal3stine a full and permanent membership in the #UnitedNations. 🔎 Looking at YOU #Canada, #Australia, #Japan, #SouthKorea, #Netherlands The Women’s Major Group urgently calls for an immediate and permanent #ceasefire in Gaza and liberation for Pal3stine, with key demands including formal recognition of Pal3stine. 'We are horrified and outraged by the incessant bloodshed and the mass killing of Pal3stinians in Gaza, Rafah, and the West Bank carried out by the Isra3li settler colonial state and the larger western imperial project. Genocidal and ecocidal acts are being proudly committed and documented widely by Isra3li subjects. We have witnessed pleas and calls for rescue and ceasefire by Pal3stinians from all generations and across borders. The ICJ’s landmark ruling and the UNSC resolution 2728 (2024) are legally binding and should be made effective immediately. Compliance and firm action by the global community can ensure the upholding of justice, leaving no room for doubt of the urgency of the situation. In the besieged Gaza, the death toll is rising every day and has surpassed 34,000 Palestinians, the majority of whom were women or children. Men have been subjected to arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, public humiliation and torture by the Isra3li forces in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank. According to UN experts Palestinian women and girls have repeatedly been denied access to essential health services (including sexual and reproductive health) and have reportedly been arbitrarily executed in Gaza, often together with family members, including their children, and subjected to sexual harassment, rape, and assault in prisons and detentions by Israeli soldiers...' access the full statement with key demands :

For those of you who keep asking why I spend all of my time, money, and energy on Afghan immigration, resettlement, and healthcare, please read below. It is why I am who I am and do what I do.
"You may call it a violation of women's rights when we publicly stone or flog them for committing adultery because they conflict with your democratic principles,” said the Taliban chief. The entire civilized world considers stoning a woman to be a violation of human rights. The Taliban is taking away women’s rights more and more. No right to an education No right to travel without a male escort No right to work The list goes on. Now the world can add to it the barbaric practice of stoning women to death. This must stop. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 – 𝟏𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 The International Labour Organisation (ILO) adopted the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalisation. On June 10, 2008, this declaration, the third of its kind since the establishment of the ILO in 1919, builds upon the principles outlined in the Philadelphia Declaration of 1944 and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of 1998. The declaration arrives at a crucial moment, highlighting the consensus on the necessity of a robust social aspect to globalisation to ensure fair outcomes for all. Recognizing the crucial link between social development, social justice, and peace and security, the General Assembly underscores the importance of respecting human rights and fundamental freedoms. Each year, the International Day of Social Justice focuses on a specific theme to highlight pressing issues and mobilise action. Themes have ranged from poverty eradication and gender equality to climate justice and the rights of indigenous peoples. Through campaigns, conferences, and community events, international organisations such as the International Labour Organization and others from around the world come together to discuss challenges, share best practices, and advocate for policy changes that advance social justice goals. Additionally, grassroots organisations and civil society groups play a crucial role in driving change at the local level, amplifying the voices of marginalised communities and holding governments and institutions accountable. 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐚 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐆𝐈𝐂𝐉) reaffirms its commitment to fostering a world characterised by fairness and equity. We recognise the importance of addressing the root causes of social injustice through inclusive policies and practices. Our dedication extends to advocating for marginalised populations and dismantling systemic barriers across intersecting lines of discrimination. 📢 Read Our Open Statement May is Missing and Murdered Indigenous People’s (MMIP) month, with May 5th dedicated to honoring Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG). Indigenous people in the U.S. and Canada face alarmingly high rates of violence, often due to dehumanization and lack of protection. In the U.S., Indigenous people are twice as likely to experience sexual violence, with 5,900 cases annually. In Canada, Indigenous women are 400% more likely to go missing. Colonial structures and jurisdictional confusion exacerbate this crisis. The red hand symbol of the MMIW movement and initiatives like Jaime Black's REDress Project highlight the urgency of this issue. It's time for decisive action. #Women contribute 7 to 9% to Africa's GDP and represent over 40% of the labour force in #CentralAfrica (#ECCAS). Despite their contributive role in fostering #economic #development in the sub-region, women are continously relegated to play the second fiddle role in the patriarchal system of production where roles and responsibilities are a attributed by sex. #Empowering women to enable them compete #equally with their male counterparts for societal #opportunities is key to curbing their #vulnerability and making their #voices heard. Empowerment should begin from a #change of #mindset, a go-getting or conquering #emotionalintelligence which does not wait for validation from men but earns esteem and respect by know- how and meritocracy without being apologetic. “We might not know for a long time what the actual number of victims are,” said Alsalem, who was appointed special rapporteur by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in 2021. She noted that reticence in reporting sexual assault was common because of the fear of reprisals against victims. She said that in a wave of detentions of Palestinian women and girls after the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on 7 October, there was an increasingly permissive attitude towards sexual assault in Israeli detention centres. “I would say that, on the whole, violence and dehumanisation of Palestinian women and children and civilians has been normalised throughout this war,” Alsalem said. There was evidence of widespread sexual violence by Hamas against Israeli women and girls during the 7 October raid in southern Israel. The Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel has reported that the use of rape and other abuse by the Hamas attackers was “systematic and intentional”. Those assaults, which were also condemned by Alsalem and the other UN experts, are to be the subject of a report by the UN secretary general’s special envoy on sexual violence, Pramila Patten.

Amid the #Anglophonecrisis in #Cameroon, civilians face unimaginable horrors, including sexual violence used as a weapon of war. This isn't just a statistic—it's a stark reality for women, men, girls, and boys whose lives are torn apart by these brutal acts. Reports reveal alarming numbers: over 1,000 cases of conflict-related sexual violence reported in 2019 alone. These atrocities, including #rape, #forcedmarriages, and abductions, not only target individuals but also entire communities, perpetuating fear and control. The consequences are devastating: survivors endure physical harm, #psychologicaltrauma, and endure social stigma. The impact on families and communities is profound, hindering peace and stability in already volatile regions. Legal frameworks exist, but implementation remains a challenge. Cameroon has ratified key treaties condemning sexual violence, yet gaps persist in translating international commitments into effective national laws. Justice for survivors is often elusive, with impunity allowing perpetrators to continue their crimes unchecked. It's time for action. In this article Muriel Kinkoh calls on governments, international bodies, and civil society to strengthen support for survivors, enhance legal mechanisms, and ensure accountability.
