The De Havilland Comet kick-started a revolution in jet travel, changing the world. ✈ 🌎 Its engineering innovations inspired a wave of progress, improving the industry. As newer jets got bigger and more powerful, the changes were clear. For example, the B707 came to compete with the Comet, with its Pratt & Whitney JT3D-8A engines, these had nearly tripled the thrust. Today, the Airbus A320 with engines like the Pratt & Whitney PW1000G are breaking records, (going from Comet 5700 lbf to an incredible 35,000 lbf of thrust) And let us not forget the A380, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines, pushing out a massive 78,000 lbf—a thirteenfold increase. This surge in engine power is not just about better performance—it's transforming how airports operate too. Think about the apron areas and jet blast. The airport’s arrangement and design are almost the same ones that we still have in use today, a reminder of how far airplane and engines technology have come since the early days of jet travel. Did you know the USA airports age is around 40 year in average? The evolution of engine power has reshaped both the skies and the ground below, marking a journey from humble beginnings to the incredible heights of modern aviation. So, the airports are moving at the same technological pace? That is why recent technologies for jet blast control and noise mitigation have a place in the new challenges of sustainability. What other areas of improvement have you identified to create a better future for aviation? #sustainableaviation #airtransport #airportoperations #JETBLAST #turbine #airbus #boeing #sustainable #airport

When I travel by aircraft ✈️ , I often find that efficient ground operations sets the tone for what is otherwise a quite uncomfortable experience. I want to spend as little time ⏲️ as possible waiting in terminals or freezing in the que outside the aircraft 🥶. What enables this? User-centric design which helps all involved be more efficient and comfortable. Interaction between airline, airport operator and OEM is essential to designing the experience for all those who are part of the journey and avoid the uncomfortable and costly delays . About a month ago, Heart Aerospace and partners SAS - Scandinavian Airlines, BRA - Braathens Regional Airlines and Swedavia AB had a blast performing turn-around tests for our Heart X1 aircraft. The experiences and test results feed into the product development of all participants and creates valuable know-how. #aerospaceip #innovation #electricaircraft #electrification
Last week, Heart Aerospace unveiled its first full-scale demonstrator airplane, Heart X1, and it's already been put to the test. Together with BRA - Braathens Regional Airlines, SAS - Scandinavian Airlines, and Swedavia AB, we've performed a ground support procedure test within the Swedish research project #ELISE. The ELISE project is funded by the Swedish innovation authority Vinnova. #aerospace #sustainable #sustainableaviation #electric #hybridelectric #electricaricraft #climatechange #airports #airlines #Sweden

Last week, Benoit Ferran also gave a lecture at the Royal Aeronautical Society - Paris Branch that is a British and the world's only professional membership association dedicated to the aerospace, aviation industry and to its global community. The topic of the lecture was one very important for Ascendance: Hybridization unlocking Advanced Air Mobility Why so❔ 1️⃣ Our DNA from the origin: to develop hybridization technologies as the best path toward a more sustainable (and someday decarbonized) aviation with SAF compatibility and transition 2️⃣ Hybridization will unlock advanced air mobility to reach market viability, especially on payload, range, speed and turn-around time expectations 3️⃣ Full battery architectures are and will stay too limited in performance and restricted to very light aviation or demonstrators 4️⃣ Hybridization gives us a starting market for helicopter replacement with our new generation aircraft We were happy our vision about hybridization in aviation was very well received by the key-players and experts who attended. Hybrid electric is the long-haul flight to cleaner connections❕ #aam #futureofaviation #sustainability Royal Aeronautical Society David Cook Howard R.
