Northern Architectural Systems’ Post

The Boathouse in Washington, DC, represents a fusion of history and modern architectural innovation. Situated on a site marked by the 1972 Watergate scandal, this project showcases Northern Architectural Systems' expertise through its use of the 4500 Series Window Wall, 1600 Series Casement, and 7600 Series Door, breathing new life into a historically significant location. This LEED Silver-certified development by WDG Architecture and UIP, transformed from a former Howard Johnson’s hotel and later university residences, demonstrates how contemporary design and respect for historical contexts can coexist, creating a vibrant, sustainable community space for the future. The Boathouse Project also received awards from Student Housing Business, Innovator Awards, Best Renovation of an Existing Project and Multifamily Executive MFE Awards, Merit Award, Adaptive Reuse Image Credit: WDG Architecture
