Good luck, and please look into dry filtering tailings instead of building tailings dams ( Guyana is a high rainfall and high water table environment).
#RigUpdate: Watch the Stena Forth drillship arriving at ASTICAN Reina Sofia dock in Las Palmas ahead of its Morocco job.
Stena Drilling Stena Forth drillship has arrived at the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Spain to undertake a special periodic survey (SPS) with ASTICAN
Once the SPS has been done, the rig will sail from the Canary Islands to Morocco to embark on its drilling assignment with London-based Energean
Recall, that the rig had just finished its drilling campaign with Shell in Egypt before this.
Now, after getting the SPS done, the rig will head to the Anchois gas field in Morocco where it will carry out a one-well firm program for Energean - which recently entered the country, thanks to partnership agreements to take over the operator role at two offshore licenses from Chariot Limited, including Lixus, where the Anchois gas development project is located, and Rissana.
The Stena Forth drillship is a 2009-built sixth-generation harsh environment dual-activity dynamically positioned (DP3) drillship scheduled to start drilling the Anchois East appraisal well in the third quarter of 2024 and undertake a drill stem test on the main gas-containing sands, targeting an additional 11 billion cubic meters of gross unrisked prospective resource.
According to Stena Drilling, this drillship has operated in 14 countries.

🌊 Aker BP ASA Granted Consent for North Sea Exploration by Havtil 🌊
The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) has greenlit Aker BP for exploration drilling in the North Sea at Alvheim Deep in production license 203, valid until February 2, 2032. Aker BP, with an 80% stake, will operate alongside partner ConocoPhillips Skandinavia (20%). The drilling at 120m water depth will be conducted by Noble Integrator, a Gusto MSC CJ70 X150 MD jack-up rig.
🛢️Aker BP and Noble Corporation are set for another collaboration, leveraging the Noble Integrator rig. The 2014-built rig, capable of drilling up to 40,000 ft in 492 ft water depth, has been a key player in Aker BP's endeavors since the establishment of the Aker BP Jack-up Alliance in 2017.
🤝 In January 2023, Aker BP reinforced its commitment to drilling activities on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) through alliances with Noble Corporation, Odfjell Drilling, and Halliburton. The Noble Integrator rig is poised to play a pivotal role in these strategic partnerships.

UK independent #UplandResources has been dealt a blow with #Sarawak state oil and gas company #Petros stating that the exploration asset for which it has spent months trying to finalise a production sharing contract is to be offered via open bidding.
Upland had been well advanced in its plans to secure a farm-in partner for Block SK 344 onshore Sarawak, East Malaysia, and had already identified a rig for exploration drilling, which had been expected in 2025.
However, Petros last week said it now plans to offer Block SK 334 “for competitive bidding to all interested investors”, throwing an almighty spanner in Upland’s works.
UK-listed Upland had already lined up a drilling rig and had built a team that was ready to start exploring the onshore block as soon as a PSC was signed.
Following Petros’ statement that it now planned to offer the block for competitive bidding, the UK independent said it had reached out to the state government, which it described as “the final authority for onshore oil and gas assets in Sarawak”.
Upland reiterated it has been in talks for some months with the state government and Petros, pursuing its interest to participate exclusively in a PSC for Block SK 334.
Block SK334 was awarded to Upland in the 2018 Malaysian bid round. That study is now complete and Upland is in discussion with the regulator to move to Exploration and Production.
𝗔𝗡𝗣 Approves Alto de Cabo Frio Central Discovery Evaluation Plan (PAD)
Earlier this week, ANP approved the Discovery Evaluation Plan (PAD) related to well 1-BRSA-1383A-RJS, known as PAD 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗼 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹-𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲. The well, drilled in 2022, had positive results in pre-salt reservoirs in the Alto do Cabo Frio Central block, situated between the Campos and Santos basins. The block was acquired on the 3rd Production Sharing Bid Round by the consortium Petrobras (50%) and bp (50%).
Petrobras is also required to submit the Exploration Work Plan (PTE) within 30 days. Regarding the discovery evaluation, the company has until 2027 to decide whether it is commercially viable.

🌊 Equinor, in partnership with Aker BP ASA and utilizing Odfjell Drilling's Deepsea Stavanger rig, has made a significant oil discovery in the exploration well 30/12-3 S in the North Sea.
🚀 The drilling operation, located about 40 kilometers south of Oseberg and 150 kilometers west of Bergen, included a sidetrack, 30/12-3 A, which unfortunately turned out to be dry and has since been permanently plugged and abandoned, as confirmed by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate.
🛠️ This discovery takes place in the first well of production license 272 B, operated by Aker BP. Aker BP and Equinor jointly own 50% of the production license, which was awarded in APA 2018. This license is a part of the Munin field, discovered in 2011.
🌐 Notably, the plan for development and operation (PDO) for Munin received approval from authorities in June 2023, setting the stage for future advancements in the industry.

Suriname’s Roystonea and Fusaea Discoveries Could Support 100,000 b/d Development – WoodMac
Petronas’ recent discoveries of Roystonea-1 and Fusaea-1 in Block 52 offshore Suriname are estimated to hold recoverable resources nearing 400 million barrels, as reported by UK-based consultancy group Wood Mackenzie.
“This could be enough to support an FPSO [floating production storage and offloading vessel] with an oil processing capacity of up to 100,000 [barrels per day] b/d,” stated Mark Oberstoetter, Head of Americas Upstream.
Key Discoveries and Developments
• Roystonea-1: Announced in November 2023, this discovery is set to play a pivotal role in Petronas’ international upstream ventures.
• Fusaea-1: The most recent discovery, spudded in February 2024 and drilled to a total depth of 5,227 meters, encountered several oil and gas-bearing Campanian sandstone reservoir packages.
Julie Wilson, Exploration Research Director, noted, “Suriname is a bright spot from those exploration efforts. It plays to PETRONAS’ existing competencies in LNG [liquid natural gas] development while providing oil to offset its LNG-weighted portfolio.”
Strategic Location and Partnerships
• Block 52: Covers an area of 4,749 square kilometers, strategically located north of Paramaribo, Suriname’s capital, within the promising Guyana-Suriname Basin.
• Partnerships: Petronas Suriname E&P operates the block with a 50% participating interest, while ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Suriname B.V. holds the remaining 50%.
Additional Exploration Efforts
• Sloanea Discoveries: Petronas discovered Sloanea-1 in 2020, with ongoing drilling at Sloanea-2.
• Other Blocks: Petronas also operates Block 48 with a 100% participating interest and holds a 30% non-operating participating interest in Block 53, where the Baja-1 oil discovery was made in 2022.
These discoveries and strategic developments underscore Suriname’s potential as a significant player in the oil and gas industry, leveraging Petronas’ expertise and partnerships to drive growth in the region.
