At Oura, we're proud to recognize our very own Alicia Clausel, MPH, MS and Cornelia Hainer from Clue, selected by the Women of Wearables (wearables, health tech & femtech), for their significant contributions and leadership in women's health. Their expertise and commitment exemplify the spirit of innovation and impact we celebrate at Oura. Menopause affects over 450 million women worldwide, yet it remains a vastly underserved area in healthcare. As part of our ongoing commitment to advancing women's health, we're honored to partner with Clue and have recently teamed up with University of California, Berkeley to study the impact of perimenopause on women's health using Oura Ring. https://bit.ly/4bCSxPr Learn more: #WomenInHealth #MenopauseAwareness #Femtech #OuraRing

In case you are not quite up to date on the FUTURE OF HEALTH … Let me spell it out for you: If you and your company are not getting ready to have health wearables including Biometric-based Coaching be part of your vitality & absence programmes and general care for your people, You are not only lacking behind… but also show you care more about their outcomes then about them as human living beings. And that’s just rude if you ask me! What are your thoughts?
I had the pleasure of speaking at the Decoding the Future of Women event last week chatting about the future of #wearables and #women’s health. Appreciated Suzaan Sauerman for her incredible panel moderation with WHOOP, ŌURA, ZOE, Flo Health Inc. Few overall thoughts: - Wearables can close the research gap, which is super important given how far behind we are in women’s health research and understanding how different conditions affect women. - Wearables like WHOOP can expedite research, fuel innovation, and ultimately help women unlock more healthy years. This is one of the major parts of working in wearables I love - we can disproportionately advance this space. - Wearables help women become experts of their own bodies and become strong patient advocates. There's power in understanding your own body. - Understanding your own baseline and observing deviations is valuable. As an example, at WHOOP we looked at HRV and RHR during pregnancy and noticed some important patterns, which led to us building the Pregnancy and Postpartum feature. I got to use this during my own pregnancy, and it offered invaluable insights about my body. This whole event was an amazing meeting of minds on women’s health, and there is a lot of important work to still do in this category. Also, I always appreciate any time I get to spend back in London. Thanks to the FemTech Lab for organizing and pushing forward these topics. #d3cond1ng2024 #FemTech #WomensHealth

I am considering upcoming birthdays for some family members and starting to research the wearables market. So many good choices on the market today. In today’s tech landscape, developing software for wearables like Oura rings involves a labyrinth of challenges—from integrating numerous APIs and managing Bluetooth connections to ensuring compliance with international standards and various legislations related to privacy and healthcare. At TechBlocks, we understand that transforming a concept into a market-ready product in this dynamic sector requires precision, expertise, and a deep understanding of the ecosystem. That's why we created Mediblocks, a solution architecture and design process to streamline the development process for wearables. Mediblocks removes ambiguity and accelerates development by addressing key challenges: - **API Integration and Multi-cloud Deployments:** Ensuring seamless connectivity and functionality across platforms. - **Compliance with Legislation:** Navigating international privacy and healthcare laws with ease. - **Optimization for Usability and Device Management:** Enhancing user experience without compromising design. Hugely important piece on PULSE by Wareable – focusing on one of the biggest themes in wearables right now. With a focus on women's health a strong theme in 2024, we have a huge report written by Sophie Charara on the pioneers driving menopause tracking in wearable tech. With the backdrop of just 4% of funding going to health tech that focuses solely on women, and a chronic lack of research on female health, a group of wearables makers are taking on menopause tracking. Read about them in this week's PULSE. #womenshealth #femtech #menopause #wearabletech #digitalhealth #wearables #oura #smartring

I Loved the Women of Wearables (wearables, health tech & femtech) Menopause 2.0 conference today! As Rachel Braun Scherl mentioned it is SO energising being in a room with women discussing advancements in women’s health. 🧡 I think it’s so important to normalise the conversation within women and to lean not on the ‘problem’ but all of the great positive solutions that are coming into this area. Lucy Perez from McKinsey & Company explained the economic opportunity being $120billion which is thought to be an underestimate. The partnership between Clue and ŌURA shows that research is at the core with a goal to bring science forward and help close the gender health gap. Alicia Clausel, MPH, MS and @corneliahainer hosted a great discussion about perimenopause and discussed that there is such a lack of education and culture of silence, it is clear that new data emerging from this partnership will be so beneficial in this area. Stasa Stankovic’s keynote speech was purely fascinating about genetic changes effecting the timing of menopause and noval therapeutics which could potentially target genes to alter ovarian lifespan and potential investigations being developed in this area. There were so many other great discussions throughout the afternoon particularly around workplace benefits schemes and how a great ROI had been made. It is amazing seeing so much innovation in this area but it is clear that more investment is needed.nn Thank you for hosting Marija Butkovic and Anja Streicher 💕 #femtech #perimenopause #menopause #mckinsey #innovation

Operations Manager at LUNA; FEMTECH ensuring every African Woman’s Safety, Privacy, and Wellness. #FEMTECH #AFRICA #LUNA
LUNA aims to be at the forefront of African women healthcare needs; some of the interventions need to lean towards tech and how we can harness data. I mean can wearables bridge gaps in women’s healthcare? A gap that needs this much needed intervention is the access to timely diagnosis to health issues. e.g. - Timely diagnosis and support for conditions like Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), perimenopause and menopause: Many women affected by these conditions wait several years before receiving a clear diagnosis and experience debilitating symptoms with no answers as to what is going on in their bodies. These women also lack honest and evidence-based supportive resources and often do not know who to turn to. There has been much more emphasis on untapped needs, including personalised healthcare, data-driven insights using artificial intelligence (AI), wearable devices, telemedicine, mental health support and inclusivity. The industry is also expanding into new areas of women’s health, such as PCOS, menopause, cancer screening and chronic disease management. The sector is looking at integration into healthcare systems, collaborations and partnerships between specialities and companies, and global expansion into markets where healthcare is limited. The evolution of this sector can potentially target accessibility issues in women’s health and help to address health inequities. (Extract from: https://lnkd.in/gsNv7aE4)

As we approach the end of the year and conclude our FemTech Expo program, we wish to acknowledge and celebrate the remarkable leaders in the Women’s Health and FemTech arena. Throughout 2023, these trailblazers have dedicated themselves to enhancing the health and well-being of many through their inventive solutions and products. Despite the growing recognition of the need for innovation in women's health, certain areas remain taboo, marked by significant data gaps. For instance, it is surprising that even today, women are diagnosed, on average, four years later than men across more than 770 diseases. Moreover, women are still more susceptible to fatal heart attacks, adverse reactions to prescription drugs, and routine dismissal of their pain by doctors due to the medical mystery surrounding their bodies. A study indicates that 90% of women with chronic pain believe the healthcare system exhibits gender bias. In 2023, breakthroughs in technology have led to the development of innovative solutions for women's health concerns. From AI-powered diagnostics to wearable devices catering specifically to women, these advancements have contributed to a more personalized and effective approach to healthcare. 2023 also witnessed a surge in awareness and advocacy efforts surrounding women's health issues. Prominent voices within the industry, along with influential organizations, played a pivotal role in raising awareness about the unique challenges women face and the importance of prioritizing their health. In response, our team at Women of Wearables has curated a comprehensive list spotlighting the incredible innovators, investors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and advocates who have left their imprint on this field in 2023. This compilation aims to make the industry more accessible, inclusive, and ultimately visible. Many thanks to our partners Withum and Guidea for supporting this list! 🔥 Check out the full list via the link below! 👇🏽 #femtech #womenshealth #healthtech #digitalhealth #healthcare #healthcareinnovation #startups #innovation #health #medtech #healthcareresearch #femalehealth #genderhealthgap #reproductivehealth #funding #investment #grants #maternalhealth #periods #menstruation #sexualhealth #sextech #menopause #fertility #pregnancy #postpartum #eggfreezing #IVF #healthequity #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorhealth #hormonehealth https://lnkd.in/eZebp58y
