As with many organisations across the world, its no surprise that Jacobs are hiring, and what a great time it is for anyone looking for personal and professional growth. The big question is, how do you know what company to join, with so much choice at the moment? Often it comes from recommendations from friends, a known reputation in the market you work in or sometimes a genuine leap of faith, because you just want to try something new and exciting. I often listen to what employees say about the company they work for, as its a great indication of what the workplace is truly like. The link below gives you a perspective from Alex Taylor BA HON FREC and as I approach my 16th year in this company, I can completely agree with what he has said. Long service is a great sign of a great company, great opportunities and importantly a great culture, and its why I have never thought to leave. I have had a varied career, fulfilling a number of different roles and have experienced some once in a lifetime moments that I will cherish forever. Above all, I love the people and feel proud of the work we do. I have been able to grow professionally and personally and feel valued within a truly inclusive culture, where you are able to challenge the accepted, in order to aim higher. If you are looking for a new role, or haven't even thought about it yet, ask yourself the question, if now is the time. We have amazing opportunities that could give you and your career just what it needs. Links are below.
As I enter my 5th year with Jacobs people often ask me why do I work here? Simple answer is the ethics, culture & people. As a transformation minded leader it allows me the freedom to challenge today to reinvent tomorrow, it allows me to aim higher, it allows me to live inclusion and most importantly allows me to do the right thing. My team and my peers are what inspire me and give me the fuel to drive forward. We are about to go on another exciting adventure of growth and will be aiming to fill over 400 roles in the coming weeks. If you want to take your career on an exciting, challenging & upward curve then please reach out to my team for a confidential chat about your future. MSc MIBA, Business Consultant, Corporate Communication Specialist, Cross-Cultural Advisor, Entrepreneur, Leadership Trainer
Rejected, Yet Happy Five months ago, I applied for a Government Relations Manager role with Baker Hughes in Basra. Today, I received the email that the application wasn’t selected. While I wasn't selected, the experience offered valuable insights into the path I’m on and where I want to go. As an independent consultant, I rarely consider fixed positions—this was, in fact, my first application in eight years. I've been fortunate to receive frequent approaches from headhunters and companies, and I remain selective. Baker Hughes was appealing due to its reputation in energy, a field where I believed my network within the Iraqi government—especially in the Federal Government, Basra, Dhi Qar, Maysan, and Muthanna—and years of business experience could make a real impact. While the extended decision-making process at Baker Hughes was challenging, I know my application was strongly considered, and my CV was competitive, which is satisfying in itself. My work as an independent consultant has reinforced the importance of patience and flexibility, and I’m grateful for the freedom that consulting offers. This experience reminded me that not every opportunity is meant to be pursued to the end and that consulting aligns closely with my values and the impact I want to achieve. Looking ahead, my focus is clear: supporting growth in Iraq through meaningful, strategic partnerships—without the constraints of a fixed position. To those considering a career pivot, sometimes the opportunities that don’t work out offer the most clarity. Rejection is Not Always Bad. #Kadhum_Jabbar #Iraq #Basra #CareerGrowth #Consulting #GovernmentRelations #EnergyIndustry #BakerHughes
