Greenroom Robotics is proud to share new details and media from the Endurance Trials for the Patrol Boat Autonomy Trial (PBAT) undertaken earlier this year.
In April 2024, we contributed to a significant milestone in maritime autonomy by successfully completing the autonomous navigation Endurance Trials. Over four days, from April 16th to 19th, the decommissioned Armidale-class Patrol Boat, renamed 'Sentinel', was equipped with our advanced software and navigated a route from Cape Naturaliste to Geraldton's Bluff Point and back, covering approximately 1,305 kilometers (705 nautical miles).
The Sentinel, equipped with GAMA, maintained autonomous control for 95% of the voyage, only pausing to capture some impressive shots of the vessel along the way. Demonstrating COLREGS-aware autonomy, the GAMA and Lookout+ systems identified incoming vessels and hazards, executing nearly 150 autonomous avoidance maneuvers, ensuring a safe and successful journey.
We extend our gratitude to all collaborators involved in the PBAT project for their dedication and teamwork. This milestone proves the readiness and reliability of our technology, showcasing the transformative power of Robotics, Autonomous Systems and Artificial Intelligence (RASAI) in making safer and cleaner oceans.
