📆 Join us at the UN Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona 10-12 April! PGS and HUB Ocean will present a new project that’s integrating metocean data along with marine biota observations in an embedded research database. 🌊 The data has been gathered over 15 years of continuous scientific recordings by the PGS seismic fleet offshore Brazil. 🔬 It combines unique oceanic data on currents, salinity, depths, and temperatures collected by PGS seismic operations, with data from 4500 recorded marine mammal observations and acoustic detections gathered through continuous recordings by #MMO crews during PGS surveys offshore Brazil since 2008. This digitalized, contextualized data is groundbreaking for scientific understanding the distribution patterns of whales and dolphins offshore Brazil and how their concentration correlates with oceanic variables says Laura Viana Catch up with Laura and Sandy Spørck at the event! 🌊 What an enlightening week at the #MIssionArenaBANOS1 ! I had the honor of moderating a pivotal session at the H2020United Project Final event where we delved into the Ocean Multi-Use Blueprints and their potential applications across various regions and sectors. A heartfelt thank you to all the panelists and speakers for their invaluable contributions. It was truly a pleasure to lead the discussion on the future of ocean multi-use projects and to explore the key enablers we still require. Our panel was a blend of diverse perspectives: - Bettina Käppeler from the Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie (Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency) provided an in-depth look into multi-use as a facet of national maritime spatial planning. - Andrea Fischel from Ørsted shared the offshore wind energy sector's experience in leading most multi-use sea discussions. - Emil Gejrot from Nordic Innovation offered perspectives on supporting Nordic businesses to actualize multi-use at sea in the region. - Simon Johansson from Nordic SeaFarm, who enriched our understanding of the seaweed farming business opportunities in the multi-use context. - Anne Gunnäs of Lysekils kommun, who brought insights on how to plan for multi-use implementation at the local government level. Special mention to Alexander Ziemba from Deltares, who introduced the upcoming call for associated regions, offering a notable 5x100k EUR for transferring multi-use best practices, technology, and community of practice knowledge to other areas. #WindEurope2024 - Join the "Green Hydrogen and Renewables" session on Friday with Ingeteam's Harkaitz Ibaiondo PhD., Green H2 Systems Director. ⚡ Klaus-Erik Pilar, Country Manager of Sunly Estonia, spoke at the Energy Conference organized by Eesti Päevaleht about gaining local communities' agreement for the development of wind farms. One approach is a windmill fee imposed by law, but Pilar noted that this alone does not solve all issues. Some people are highly motivated by it, while others are not affected at all. The amounts received vary greatly and depend on the number of households covered by the windmill fee. For instance, in some Sunly projects, the fee per household is 300 euros per year, while in others, it amounts to 3,000 euros. Nevertheless, Pilar acknowledges that wind farms have an impact on local residents, even if it's only visual. Yesterday at #Hias we started our #MABR from OxyMem. We want the AOB`s to establish in the middle of the #Hias Process (#EBPR on #MBBR). Between anaerobic and aerobic zones there should be a niche for AOB where NH4 is high and BOD is low and we expect AOB´s to establish during this summer.
