According to eMarketer, US ad spend on video games totaled $8.6 billion in 2022, compared to $56.9 billion on social media, $67.2 billion on video, $68.4 billion on linear TV and $18.9 billion on CTV. Accenture's "Reinvent for Growth" report surveyed 6,000 consumers across 10 countries about their media consumption behaviors. The report highlights how media companies need to radically reinvent themselves. One fascinating insight I found is that over 49% of respondents increased their time playing video games; our report suggests that merging with a gaming studio could be a radical change for media companies (we can already see this occurring in different ways across Disney, Netflix, and Warner Bros.
