Are you interested or committed ? I came across this powerful question in one of my learning webinars. Hope all of you are aware of the difference between interest and commitment. Interest is short lived and momentary, if at all it gets extended, it would be for a short term only. You do certain things out of interest , that too for a short time period only, when the situations are favourable. But commitment is a different game altogether. You are committed for lifetime. You stick to your commitment, no matter what. Even if the situations are not favourable, you stick to your word. That is true commitment. So you can do an analysis of how and where your interests lie and to what and whom you are committed in life . Try that and see !!!

Remember, about a month back, I was embarking on something scary and exciting? The first part of it happened yesterday morning, and I am so thankful for friends coming to support the launch. Thank you Aifa Ahmad for coming early and helping to set up most of the space, and sharing about Terra Academy. Your sharing about the facilitation industry being a supportive space for women and mothers, provided insights to how facilitation is a life skill, and it can be a supportive space 👍🏽👍🏽 Thank you Jo'an Bardy for helping with the admin and tech support. With your administrative and analytical support, it was so much easier for the training partners and the potential facilitators to better understand the varied expectations within the industry, and will help to move the needle forward in how we can have better conversations around these expectations to navigate through them. Thank you Ruoyi Hong for the space, printing facilities and sharing about Bold At Work. Your magic word of "vibe" made the whole difference in the reflection of ourselves, in how we go about making choices. The reality is, the vibe goes both ways : training partner to facilitator and facilitator to training partner. Thank you Xi-Wei Yeo, Louis Puah and M. Ibnur Rashad (一诺) 🕊️ Social Technopreneur and Sustainability Inventor, for your presence to anchor the space and to speak from your truths. And sharing from philosophical, practical, business and operational perspectives were beneficial and supportive to provide the lens for the potential facilitators. And your sharing of your organisations - Living Theories, Praxium, Crater, GUILD Asia | Your ESG Pathmaker and A Good Space Co-operative Limited - definitely added a lovely flavour and dimension to the facilitation work that is available. I quote a comment from a participant of yesterday's session : "Thanks for doing this, Michelle. I am glad you are doing this, I am glad there are companies (them I met just now) supporting this as well. I am glad there is a collaborative effort." His verbal feedback was that he is amazed by all these wonderful people coming together to create this space together. He also said, the persona of an ideal facilitator, is that of a good person. If everyone can emulate the ideal facilitator, we will all be good people, and the world would be a better place. Thank you friends, for making this such a good start! I slept well, and fulfilled, last night. I am also aware and conscious, this is just the beginning. There is a lot more work to be done, once this is started. The opportunities to provide for each other is significant, and the hope is to create a better world, eventually. Where we can excel and still be friends, where we can work together, in the same space, and compete, and knowing that we still have each other's back. =====THE IMPORTANCE OF A SUPPORT COALITION====== Many of us have talked about wanted to effect change, whether it be in our organizations, our teams, or the larger industry. Some of us might have tried, to varying degrees, in actionable steps to effecting this change, but 9 times out of 10, the inertia is too great. We need to understand a fundamental truth: Change is not a single-player game. This phrase from Dr Jason Fox's book "The Game Changer" resonated very deeply with me, and I understand that if change is to be met, a community needs to rally to help massage that change into culture. That's the reason why I'm privileged to bring Living Theories to be part of Michelle Ow's new endeavor with Chrysalists Pte Ltd; to build a ready, trained pool of facilitators for training providers to tap on. The industry is a meaningful one for me, because facilitation isn't just a professional skill, it's a life skill that will impact greatly how you deal with team members, family members, and friends. The road ahead will be tough, met with schemers, hurdles, skepticism and obstacles aplenty, but I have faith that as a community, we can help drive real change. People like Ruoyi Hong, Louis Puah, M. Ibnur Rashad (一诺) 🕊️ Social Technopreneur and Sustainability Inventor and Aifa Ahmad are inspirations in their own field, helping to build meaningful bridges to executing a vision of positivity and self-awareness. I truly hope that as #gamification specialists, we're able to contribute to this community, and help build a new culture of learning and growth together. Game on!
