Audio processors undergo continuous advancement, enabling new hearing implant recipients to benefit from the latest technology. For long-time users, though, can an upgrade to a new processor be beneficial? Lailach et al. evaluated audiological outcomes and subjective benefits in 99 patients, 69 of whom were fitted with a MED-EL implant, comparing their old processor to their new one after four weeks of wearing. The study concluded: 1. New processors can have audiological and subjective benefits. 2. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) can be used to identify patients who have subjective benefits but not audiological improvements. 3. PROMs should be integrated into the fitting process. 4. PROMs should be included when applying to payers for approval of an upgrade. Read more about this HNO study here: https://lnkd.in/dTcb_uhP #medicalresearch #audioprocessor #audpeeps

Absolutely on point, Marcus Parade, 🌞💡✅ MBA! The balance between embracing technology and maintaining a sense of self-reliance is crucial. Just like any tool, technology is meant to enhance our lives, not make us entirely dependent on it. Your point about staying updated resonates with me. It's not just about having the latest gadgets but also understanding their functionality to avoid potential pitfalls. Regularly updating our devices and applications ensures we're getting the best performance while also bolstering security. Also, your tip about having a backup plan is essential in this age of technological dependency. There's a certain comfort in knowing we have an "analog" failsafe when our digital world glitches. Thanks for this insightful post - it serves as a fantastic reminder that while tech offers great convenience, nothing beats good old preparation and knowledge.

CS Erickson is at the forefront of tech-led design, partnering closely with Special Olympics Michigan to ensure technology serves everyone, regardless of ability. In our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and innovative problem-solving, our AV team embarked on a journey to Las Vegas alongside members from Special Olympics of Michigan and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. There, we experienced groundbreaking technology by HOLOPLOT, the masterminds behind the audio of the Las Vegas Sphere. Their breakthrough in audio control (Waveform synthesis), provides acoustical equity to each individual's unique needs and listening position. Watch this video to see Gerid, with cochlear implants, and Rylan, who has autism and Tourette's, sharing the same audio experience side by side, despite their diverse sensory needs. Something that has never been possible before. It's a remarkable moment where inclusivity meets technology. At CS Erickson, we thrive on solving complex challenges for our clients, creating experiences that unite people through technology. We design with you, not just for you. We are excited to continue to collaborate with Special Olympics of Michigan, reshaping perceptions of community, inclusivity, and technology. #elevatingtheexperience #sonicdemocracy #cserickson #cseintegration #avtechnology #technology #technologysolutions #electricalsolutions #electrical #electrician #fiber #data #technician #cuttingedge #forwardthinking #peoplematter #operationalexcellence #powerfulconnections

Hi Marcus Parade, 🌞💡✅ MBA , I completely agree with your sentiment that technology should serve us, not the other way around. Your post highlights the potential pitfalls of relying solely on voice recognition for access control. It's always important to have a backup plan in case technology fails us. Having a spare key is definitely an old school but effective solution. Sometimes, the simplest methods are the most reliable. Additionally, it's crucial to familiarize ourselves with our smart gadgets and know how to manually reset or override them if needed. Staying updated with the latest software updates is also essential as bugs can often cause glitches in our devices. By keeping up with these updates, we can ensure that our tech is running smoothly and avoid any unexpected malfunctions. Thank you for sharing these valuable tips and reminding us of the importance of being prepared. Your humorous anecdote about getting locked out after a dentist visit certainly serves as a memorable cautionary tale. It's always better to be safe than sorry! Keep up the great work

Parent Question: Can screen time affect eyesight? - EyeCare4Kids Spending long periods on computers, tablets, phones, and other screens can lead to digital eye strain. Symptoms may include dry eyes, blurred vision, headaches, and neck or shoulder pain. The blue light emitted by screens may also contribute to eye strain and discomfort. It’s important to practice good screen habits to protect your eyes. This includes taking regular breaks using the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds), ensuring proper lighting to reduce glare, adjusting screen settings for comfort, and maintaining a healthy distance from the screen. Additionally, blinking often helps to keep the eyes moist.
