We've had 25 people sign up for Asso. Mfg Excellence (AME)'s upcoming workshop at Crown Equip. "A Pathway to Excellence: How to Lead and Assess Organizational Transformation" which filled up all of our open slots. I'm quite excited to be working with such a great set of people who will be attending that event. From my perspective, most organizations do an OK, but not elegant job of improving. In the mind of leadership, they think they do a pretty good job of improving. That assumption, "that we are doing a good job" blinds people to the actual reality of understanding the organization's actual level of improvement maturity. AME's Lean Sensei™ improvement self-assessment instrument is intended to help piece that blindness. In the workshop we will be spending a lot of time talking about how the best assessors of improvement effectiveness can impart that knowledge. As someone deeply entrenched in change management, I've witnessed firsthand the disparity between the emphasis placed on the 'how' and 'when' versus the fundamental question of 'why.' During my engagements with leaders of prominent organizations, I've been struck by the lack of clarity or attention given to the underlying strategy behind significant investments and initiatives. My role in understanding the 'why' of these endeavors became pivotal in crafting effective change management plans and assessing organizational readiness for transformation. It's concerning to observe that strategic discussions frequently overlook the foundational 'why,' leading to disjointed efforts and missed opportunities for alignment.
