During our Global Meeting in Panama City, we sat down with Renee Arrington, NACD.DC, Vice Chair, Americas of IIC Partners, and President & COO of Pearson Partners International to discuss board search assignments. Renee shared some incredible insights that we will share over the coming weeks. Here is the first question we asked: What do you look for in first-time board candidates? "I look for a couple of things. Firstly, what experience does that candidate have with a board of directors? Do they report to that board? Have they attended and presented at meetings? So, what's their experience base in terms of their current employer's board? Secondly, have they taken the opportunity to gain any board governance certifications? There are many organizations that offer such certifications. For example, the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) has a certified directorship program. The Private Directors Association and 50/50 Women on Boards also offer board readiness training. Lots of groups provide such training. And then thirdly, do they have any references from CEOs with whom or for whom they've worked over the years that say, "Hey, this candidate really is board ready"?" Thank you, Renee Arrington, NACD.DC, and the team at Pearson Partners International (IIC Partners: Dallas), for participating! #boardsearch #boards #leadership #executivesearch

Our recent roundtable of DEI leaders universally had concerns about the ability of Boards to drive meaningful change across DEI within a business. The FCA is trying to turn the dial but are Boards genuinely doing the same? If they’re not, how do diversity professionals make an impact at Board level? In this second write-up from our DEI roundtable, we discussed the barriers but also solutions to the problem. Read it here https://lnkd.in/ewgKSHcB And let us know in the comments below if you agree or not, and have other suggestions.

Helping frustrated business owners increase sales, lead more effectively, communicate with greater precision, and improve customer relationships! Ring the 🔔 for my daily insights, laughs and explosive knowledge bombs 💣
𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝟯 𝗬𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗚!! 🤩 In January 2021, Sandler Connecticut – PEAK officially launched the 𝗣𝟮𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹, an educational/networking initiative for like-minded, upper echelon business leaders from local non-competing industries. Co-sponsored by the Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC), the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce the 𝗣𝟮𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 immediately attracted a core group of select members. That they’re all still actively participating in this program more than three years later is a testament to the value each of them receives from our monthly get togethers. That’s the good news! 🥳 Here’s the better news... We’re looking to expand the existing group and (possibly) launch a second one. And because of the limited number of available seats, we’re giving special consideration to early inquiries from qualified candidates. Watch the video below for a more detailed 𝗣𝟮𝗣 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 overview, and click on the link to see what our current members have to say about the program... 👉 👉 👉 https://bit.ly/3IL68Gl After all that, get back to me directly if you have any clarification and/or “next step” questions. 🤔 #ceomindset #ceoleadership #businessstrategy #leadershipdevelopment
