On November 26, tragedy struck the Maldonado family when Officer Jason Maldonado, a veteran and dedicated San Antonio Park Police officer of over 15 years, was severely injured when hit by a vehicle while out walking with his wife, April, who was tragically killed during the incident. As Jason faces a long recovery journey—while caring for his four children—we encourage our community to come forward in this season of giving and help The 100 Club of San Antonio raise funds to alleviate some of the financial strain the Maldonado family face as they move forward. Today, The PM Group and The 100 Club of San Antonio showed their support of Officer Jason Maldonado and his family at a press conference to raise awareness of the opportunity to help a SAPD family in our community. Humans have marked Winter solstice (the longest night of the year) for millenia, looking forward with hope to brighter days. For people doing it tough, a period of homelessness really can be "the longest night". On Winter solstice (20 June) Tessa van Duyn and I will spend a night out in the cold to raise funds for people who are homeless or at risk. Vinnies provides food, clothing and support, but (more importantly) Vinnies provides hope during what can be a dark time. Only three sleeps to go - help us make a difference: https://lnkd.in/ggAAcr2i

Do you have a role to play in spreading the message that domestic and family violence (DFV) is not acceptable in our community? May is DFV Prevention Month and we’re looking for 50 businesses to lead by example. (But we need you to sign up now, so we hit our target in May!😂) We need your help, to: • raise community awareness of DFV and its impacts; • promote a clear message that domestic and family violence is not tolerated in our communities; and • raise money for The Haven to house and support over 44 women and 113 children per year. You can make an impact. Sign up now as a fundraiser and we’ll be in contact to discuss what you can do in the month of May to help. Sign up: https://loom.ly/u_ORy38 Alternatively email businessmanager@thehaven.org.au for more information. #dfvpreventionmonth

(Y'all I just had a genius idea!!!) Let’s Put Our Hotel Points Where Our Hearts Are- Right now, across the country, countless people are facing the brutal reality of winter or the brutal reality of wild fires without stable housing. Survivors. Veterans. Families. Victims. People who have done everything right but still find themselves without a safe place to go. One of them is a survivor leader and her grandson in Virginia. Their home was just condemned. No electricity. No support from the landlord. And while we will pursue legal action on her behalf, that doesn’t help them right now. Others are community members we serve in Memphis. The amazing neighborhoods and folks of South Memphis. ❤️❤️❤️ Both VA and TN have been slammed with double digits inches of snow. Others are in CA - their whole lives devastated by fires. What they need right now is safety, warmth, and stability. Here’s where we come in. Most of us don’t even think about our hotel rewards points— they sit there, accumulating, until they expire. But what if those points could literally save lives? Think about it: ✅ Many people aren’t traveling right now due to weather. ✅ Hotel points expire if they aren’t used. ✅ Those points can be donated to put someone in a warm, safe place. We need to collectively pool our points to: - help this survivor and her grandson stay somewhere safe while we work on a long-term housing solution. - help our incredible community of friends on the streets of South Memphis stay warm. -help organizations like Fill the Needs provide direct boots on the ground resources to victims of the CA fires. If you have points with hotel rewards programs, let’s put them to use. This is how we show up. This is how we take care of each other. This is how we turn something small—something most people forget about—into something that changes lives. Drop a comment, DM me, or email if you have hotel points you can contribute. Let’s make this happen. I also can accept donations for the survivor in Virginia and can send you to the donation link page for any Memphis cash donations----> wefightmonsters.org If you want to donate directly to the CA wildfire response -----> Fill the Needs & Amy Sins Filltheneeds.org I am going to tag some of my people here because I think this is such a good idea and lots of y'all travel a lot, and know people who travel a lot, and have huge networks and I'd appreciate you sharing! Immediate Need: I have a survivor leader who has no heat in her home, for her and her grandson. we are searching for emergency assistance if anyone knows of any available support in Virginia Beach/Norfolk? While she will be looking into legal actions when she can, her immediate need is heat. She has spent the last of her money on a hotel (that her landlord was supposed to pay, but is refusing) and she can no longer sustain this. I can accept donations and ensure they will fully get to her. It always breaks my heart to see survivors who are giving back, using their pain for purpose and the support of others, still struggling to maintain basic needs like heat for their families. Please send any resources you have way!

We are stronger when we walk together, When a woman leaves a violent partner, she loses so much more than a roof over her head - she risks her safety, faces relocation and loses access to financial stability, community, and support systems. With domestic violence as the leading cause of homelessness for women, many are forced to choose between staying with a violent partner and having a place to stay. Support Walk for WAGEC Women's & Girls' Emergency Centre (WAGEC) so that women and their children can walk away from violence. With the rising cost of living and housing crisis, WAGEC's services are more in-demand than ever and needing your help to raise $300,000 that will fund vital services that will support women and children in crisis, and stop violence before it starts. A donation of $250 could provide three days of crisis accomodation for a woman and her children who have just escaped violence. Every dollar helps to build a safer future for women and children in our community. We're stronger when we walk together. Donate here: https://lnkd.in/gT7rErZ8

No one should suffer the horrors of human trafficking, yet it continues to thrive in our communities and around the world. Victims—many of them children—are trapped in a cycle of exploitation, fear, and abuse. At Magdalenas Daughters, we believe that with awareness, education, and a strong community of supporters, we can break this cycle and offer survivors a new beginning. This fight isn’t just about rescue; it’s about creating lasting change. Your involvement can help provide the critical resources and care these individuals need to rebuild their lives. By volunteering your time or donating to support our programs, you can be a part of a movement that gives survivors a chance at freedom, dignity, and hope. Join us in the fight for freedom and justice. Together, we can build a world where no one has to endure the pain of trafficking. Ahead of Matthew's run to every Premier League stadium we wanted to highlight why he, you, and local businesses, are coming together for Mission 135. Mission 135's goal is to raise £405,000 across Club 135, Network 135, and Team 135. Of course, the money is incredibly important in maintaining our suicide prevention and bereavement support services, but it's more than just a fundraising campaign. It's about people. It's about the 135. On average, every death by suicide affects 135 people. That equates to more than 760,000 people last year in the UK alone. We believe the best way to support the 135 is by preventing the 1 from taking their life. That's our goal. That's our mission. So thank you for every mile, every cake baked, and every profit shared. Together we can, and will, save lives, support communities, and prevent suicide. Join our mission: https://lnkd.in/eTS8UHqr #Mission135 #SuicidePrevention #SuicideAwareness
