🙌 We were delighted to welcome the Bishop of Leeds, Bishop Nick Baines, to TRU this morning to show him the progress that has taken place so far. 🏗️ The visit involved a briefing about TRU on the train from Leeds to Huddersfield, followed by a tour of Huddersfield station. This allowed us to demonstrate the scale of work currently underway across the Transpennine route to enable faster, more frequent trains to run on a greener, more reliable railway 🚉 🌄 Bishop Nick leads the Anglican Diocese of Leeds, one of the largest dioceses in England. It spans all of West Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Lancashire, and County Durham, covering approximately 2,425 square miles and serving a population of around 2.6 million people.

YWCA Canada issued an apology to Indigenous communities for involvement in programs offered at residential schools and Indian hospitals supporting colonial ideologies and promoting policies of assimilation. "As we have embarked on a journey towards meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, YWCA Canada is taking ownership of the harms caused as part of our legacy as a historically colonial institution with faith-based origins that were used to assimilate Indigenous communities," Aline Nizigama, chief executive officer of YWCA Canada, said in a news release last week. In 2019, the organization commissioned research on its role in residential schools and Indian hospitals, and published a summary report last week.

I'm on a panel at this forum next week, to talk about how we deal with the risk of modern slavery in renewable energy supply chains. As the forum will show, this is not a challenge unique to renewable energy, but our industry needs to be part of a solution to this global problem. Looking forward to the discussion.

Two of the social-emotional capabilities that Queenwood aims to develop are independence and agency. In this article Mrs Pip Turner, Year 5 Teacher and Junior School Coordinator of Pastoral Care, discusses the resounding success of the Year 5 Independence Project at Queenwood. Through hands-on experiences and risk-taking, the girls have gained confidence, resilience and a stronger sense of agency.
