Breaking the cycle ⭕️ How do we lift people up from poverty to better? At Packed with Smiles we don't have all the answers, but we do know that missing school can have lifelong impacts not only to achievement but health and even life expectancy We've packed parcels for kids who aren't attending school because they don't have uniform. By providing it, they get back to school for the learning and fun they so deserve 🩵 It sounds simple, but with the list of problems families in crisis face, solving one so easily can be a huge help For a longer read on the possible solutions to child poverty, have a look here - https://lnkd.in/d2PynhYz

WORKING TOGETHER 🏆 At All We Can, our partnership approach is very important to us. 🤝 Instead of trying to impose solutions to poverty on communities, we partner with local organisations in some of the world's poorest countries to uncover the potential of people living in poverty. 🔒 We do this by working together with local organisations. Their commitment and compassion mean that, more than anyone else, they are best placed to unlock the potential in their communities. 🚶 We believe that one of our most important roles is to support the capacity development of our local partners instead of trying to import our own solutions to the challenges communities are facing. 💎 We do not need to import solutions and potential to communities. The potential is already there, like hidden treasure, it is waiting to be uncovered. 🤗 Help us on our journey of partnership by giving to All We Can TODAY. 🔗 allwecan.org.uk/give/ 📷 Tom Price / All We Can

Today is WORLD CHILDREN'S DAY https://lnkd.in/e-E_pCmH - they are our precious future, yet children are being relentlessly killed, maimed and orphaned in war zones. Meanwhile in the UK more than 1 in 3 children are living in poverty, more than half from families with more than two children. Poverty causes suffering, hunger, poor diet and blighted opportunities. https://lnkd.in/eti-Ngvi. Scrapping the two child benefit cap would lift more than 620,000 out of poverty. It should be done now. The Lancet have released a series on investing the first 1000 days of childhood https://lnkd.in/eH3jFmB6 Finally there is a world ministers conference for ending violence to children https://lnkd.in/e-B9Ei-4

Preserving the right to a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for all children is essential to our mission at LUV. Our indigenous partners provide safe spaces to help children, like Nalo*, in our anti-trafficking network grow into active changemakers for their own lives and communities. Born under tragic circumstances, Nalo’s mother was violently attacked while pregnant and later died from her injuries during an emergency cesarean section. Miraculously, Nalo survived. However, when he was abandoned by his father, he was left in the care of his aunt, who struggled to make ends meet. Desperate and afraid for Nalo’s future, she reached out to Lift Up the Vulnerable’s indigenous partners for help. Because of the sanctuary LUV provides in war-torn nations, Nalo had a place to call home. He is now a three-year-old boy living safely in our anti-trafficking network where he can play and learn with other children his own age. We are so grateful to be able to provide essential care, education, and opportunities to vulnerable children like Nalo. Every contribution, no matter the size, plays a vital role in preventing trafficking and oppression and empowering changemakers. “Young people in secondary schools should not have to wait any longer for universal free school meals.” The universal roll-out of free primary school meals helps to tackle child poverty and gives every child the fuel they need to learn. But the right to adequate nutritious food is not being afforded to older children and young people attending Welsh secondary schools. Partnerships Coordinator, Kate Haywood, explains why Wales needs a fair free school meals policy 👉 https://ow.ly/R6Q750UK1hu
