In our interconnected global landscape, the value of Black executive experience extends beyond local impact; it has become a valuable resource for top corporations and innovators worldwide. While our unique perspectives have earned the trust and respect of many US corporations and their boards, they remain an untapped asset for continental African corporate boards. Adapting this experience to an African narrative and interconnecting our voices is a cultural imperative for forging new pathways to strategic business growth. The power of varied perspectives at tables many didn't know existed creates more extensive tables and additional seats. Join us in reshaping the future of corporate leadership. Together, we amplify the impact of Black executives, bringing their valuable insights to the forefront. Let's build a more inclusive, innovative, and globally competitive business landscape. NEW in Candid. Our latest Race to Lead report, The Push and Pull: Declining Interest in Nonprofit Leadership, found that interest in leadership is declining among Black, Indigenous, and other people of color. BMP's co-executive directors, Frances Kunreuther and Sean Thomas-Breitfeld, explore why aspiration to lead is declining. They explore reasons, including that BIPOC staff are often pushed into leadership to escape negative experiences and how once in leadership roles they lack the support of the board and staff. Tired of diversity initiatives that fall short? “Through engaging and authentic storytelling surrounding the British black experience, The Model Black unearths a still underrepresented factor critical to 21st Century leadership: the ability to navigate race productively but unapologetically. This book offers practical frameworks for managing this complex task for both black and non-black-ally leaders. The result is a compelling, accessible, and uplifting guide to confronting one of the most pressing needs of our age: rehumanizing our organizations.” The Model Black unveils a vital leadership skill: navigating race with both practicality and authenticity. This book offers actionable frameworks for both Black and non-Black allies to build truly inclusive workplaces. #DiversityEquityInclusion #TheModelBlack

Looking forward to moderating this all-star panel on #climate and #environmental advocacy, featuring Katie Robinson, Jacqueline Patterson, Susan Hendershot, and Ariana Gonzalez and exploring this important topic together! The #BuildingTogether leadership experience from the Council on Foundations is timely, to say the least. In my own environmental advocacy before joining the foundation world, a regret is not fully appreciating the power of authentic, principled coalitions. Sure, I worked in coalition. But primarily with other organizations that closely shared the same policy goals. Our differences sometimes seemed large, but they were, in context, minute. On so many issues today, generating the influence to overcome powerful opponents requires more than working effectively with those with whom you already share affinity. It also demands figuring out how to expand the circle of affinity. Exploring common goals that exist. Forging, sometimes painfully, the actual relationships that can drive more influential and powerful responses to climate change, water pollution--and much more. This isn't just a "good" thing to do, its a strategic way to win.
Mosaic will proudly team up with The Chisholm Legacy Project: A Resource Hub for Black Frontline Climate Justice Leadership, Interfaith Power & Light, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), and the Pisces Foundation during the Council on Foundations Building Together conference to present the panel Working Across Difference to Build a Climate-Proof Future. Together, we’ll explore innovative work across communities that is addressing inequality and activating unlikely allies to increase influence as we grow a climate movement that can deliver the big, sustainable wins we need.
