Camden is a vibrant, multicultural borough, with 45.4% of Camden residents born outside the UK, contributing to its rich diversity, albeit with significant socio-economic challenges: - At 41%, Camden has the second-highest poverty rate in London. - Camden faces the worst housing affordability in the capital. - London’s Black and Asian communities have been disproportionately affected by the cost-of-living crisis. - Over 2 in 5 Bangladeshis and nearly 1 in 3 Black Londoners live in overcrowded housing conditions in Camden, which is considerably higher than the UK average. - There has been a 39% rise in hate crimes all over London in 2023 compared to 2022. Our incredible community researchers are examining the impact of structural racism on housing, education, employment, and safety across the borough. Findings from our research will inform policy recommendations aimed at key development areas, such as enhancing community infrastructure, improving educational quality with better cultural training and diverse curriculum design, and fostering pathways to employment through collaboration with local businesses. Join us in working to address and dismantle racial inequalities in Camden, and creating more just and inclusive communities for all!
It’s a political bus, but not as you know it. Camden Giving and our friends are heading to Birmingham to meet brap to prepare for a Community Assembly on Strucutal Racim in this September. Community members will be making reccomendations to local political leaders charities, police and businesses. Want to be part of a community-led recommendation? Fundraising strategy development, business planning, workshop facilitation, bid writing & fundraising training for charities & social enterprises
"Go forth, advocate, be stroppy, be proud and be proud of being woke. The country needs this sector more than any of you could possibly believe." We should all take note of this rallying call by Paul Streets, along with his warning that charities have lost their "radical identities" due to over-dependence on state funding and contradictory guidance from the Charity Commission on how and when they can speak out. I see this all the time in my work - charities trying to tread the line between saying what they feel they need to, keeping funders/donors happy, and avoiding falling foul of regulation. For smaller charities especially, if you lack the time to properly weigh up whether to speak out and what the risks are, and lack the expertise to make sense of the confusing guidance, all too often you end up simply staying quiet. Just like the system wants you to. We all need to remember and rediscover a bit more of that "purposeful anger". After all, we're not here to deliver contracted services, we're here to change the world. https://lnkd.in/eyR2GUKD

You can not put a value on your own life and what that life means to your loved ones, employer, employees, suppliers, customers and the community you live in. Attending one of these events might just change your mind about wearing a life jacket (or Personal Flotation Device) on board your vessel and this might just be the difference between going home and not…. #manoverboard #safetyawareness #stayingalive #homeanddry

On Monday myself and the other Black Heroes Foundation trustees alongside Claire Glazebrook had a strategy day at Somerset House. Thank you Claire Glazebrook & Dr Joyce Fraser OBE for creating a safe space to discuss openly and honestly about the challenges of a small charity with a big dream. It was an enriching yet humbling time dissecting the visions and realities of the organisation. We now have ‘a plan to get a plan’ as we continue to move forward together with clarity and passion! We also looked at our preferred behaviour types. So interesting… Please take a look at the picture below. 🧡What is YOUR preferred behaviour type? #teamwork #boardbusiness #strategy

🌟 CLIENT CASE STUDY 🌟 “We are so happy with how Vardeep helped us - she has brought the brand to life.” Previously known as The Gurney Fund, Police Children's Fund is a charity that supports the children of deceased or medically retired police officers. Before the rebranding, the Police Children's Fund faced challenges in standing out and lacked awareness among their core audience. Their original branding was not effectively communicating their mission and values, resulting in limited impact. The new brand identity, created through a branding workshop and naming exercises, effectively communicates the mission and values of the Police Children's Fund. This has resulted in a stronger and more impactful presence for the charity, allowing them to better support their audience. See the full case study on my website. A bill in California, AB-3080, is progressing through the state legislature and aims to require age verification for visitors to porn websites, with supporters arguing it protects children from harmful content. However, DeliverFund CEO Nic McKinley raises concerns about its practicality and effectiveness. Do you think making users verify their age before visiting a porn site is an effective tactic? #HumanTraffickingAwareness #TechThatProtects #HumanTraffickingPrevention #Nonprofit #Charity #ItEndsHere #Trafficking #HumanTrafficking
