Municipalities big and small need to define their role in EV charging. But what makes for a successful strategy and how can cities collaborate with public and private actors to make it happen in a moment of fiscal constraints? At this year’s Transportation Association of Canada / Association des transports du Canada conference, Dunsky Managing Consultant Lindsay Wiginton Wiginton and TransLink’s Sabrina Lau Texier will discuss the results of a charging analysis completed for Metro Vancouver to support the city’s rapid rise in EV adoption. The presentation will offer relevant and practical insights for decision-makers, including the results of our charging needs assessment, equity considerations, information about the critical role of EV-ready apartment and condo retrofits, and the policy relationship between public and home charging. We hope to see you in Ottawa! #evcharging #EVs #equity

Minister of State Jack Chambers today announced the Postcode Management Licence Holder (PMLH) contract between the Department and Capita Business Support Services Ireland has been extended by a further three years. Capita Business Support Services Ireland, trading as Eircode, were awarded the contract to develop, rollout and operate the National Postcode System in October 2013. A key driver for the introduction of Eircodes was to deal with the challenges faced with non-unique addresses in Ireland. These include difficulties encountered by the emergency services in locating addresses due to 35% of all properties in the state sharing an address with other properties. Since the introduction of Eircodes, significant progress has been made in relation to the implementation of Eircode across the public sector, private sector and among the public. ‘NETWORK INTEROPERABILITY BY THE END OF DECEMBER 2025’ Today ARNECC has published key regulation requiring that ELNO interoperability be designed, built and tested before December 2025, paving a way for competition in the eConveyancing market by December 2025. This will mean that the benefits of competition for industry, small businesses and consumers are just around the corner. This means millions of dollars of innovation, service and value benefits to customers every year. We thank ARNECC, industry stakeholders and Government, specifically to Minister Jihad Dib and Minister Andrew Leigh MP for their unwavering support. Whilst this is a major milestone, we must not rest until these deadlines are met. The focus now shifts to keeping this important competition reform on track by enforcing the network obligations through program milestones We look forward to continuing to work with all participants to ensure there is competition in this market to benefit everyone. #competition #sympli #econveyancing Link to MOR: https://lnkd.in/gy9-vfYR

When we talk about the risks of IT system failures we often sight reputational and financial damage. Few projects come to mind that caused more damage in both categories than the UK Post Office Horizon system. First introduced in 1999, Horizon was in use by Postmasters across the UK for 20 years. According the BBC Between 2000 and 2014, the Post Office prosecuted 736 sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses - an average of one a week - based on information from a recently installed computer system called Horizon. Some went to prison following convictions for false accounting and theft, many were financially ruined and have described being shunned by their communities. Some have since died. From <https://lnkd.in/etgDd9YA> An independent public statutory inquiry https://lnkd.in/eaRkVu2K is currently underway, but so far nobody at the Post Office or Fujitsu - the system developer - have been held responsible. Now, I am not saying that any new system that you are planning to install is going to cause this kind of damage, but scale it down to the size of your business, and consider the impact. Even if one customer is impacted, but it could be catastrophic for your business as you most likely have the deep pockets of the UK Government, the owners of The Post Office. So before you embark on that new system implementation, be sure to get in touch for a free initial consultation, where we can advise on best practice and next steps.
