There are just 13 weeks to go until several members of the Hensall team will put on their walking boots and tackle the 24-mile Y3P challenge in under 12 hours in a bid to raise £250,000 for Cancer Research UK. Of course, 24 miles is a challenging task. With a lot of help from Francesca Nicholas RNutr PH BDA SCMA at Nutripath LTD, we’re getting stuck into the first month of our exercise plan. For the first month, we’ve got three areas of focus: 🔴 Building our basic cardio fitness 🔴 Getting used to being in the hills and trekking across rocky ground 🔴 Resistance training Our goal is to build up our endurance so that we can run 10km non-stop, at 10-minute miles, before the event. Our aim is to improve our endurance so that we can run 10km non-stop at a pace of 10 minutes per mile before the event. For those of us new to running, we're starting with 3×1 mile routes, using a walk-run-walk method until we can run 1 mile continuously. Then, we will gradually increase the distance by 20% and adjust our training regimen accordingly. Continuing the exciting momentum we're seeing in the philanthropic world, this fascinating article from Wealth Briefing highlights that 77% of US family offices support charities by giving them access to their aircraft, and that 44% of them say they support the Corporate Angel Network, which is a US-based 501 non-profit organization working with cancer patients to get best treatment by the use of free travel on corporate aircraft. Separately, 16% of family offices surveyed say their budgets for philanthropic causes have increased significantly over the past three years, and 47% said they have increased slightly. #philanthropy #familyoffice https://lnkd.in/eNUygbaG

The bots were in Wales again over the weekend and found a new fund for you Acorn - Thrive Communities. For all voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations operating across South East Wales. One hundred hours of volunteer days will be available from Acorn staff, sub-contractors and its supply chain to successful applicants, as well as small grants of up to £1000, with 20 being awarded over the next two years. Thrive Communities Resource Bank will also be available to charitable organisations, with unused or excess materials from the construction phase of the Nantgarw (Cardiff) cancer centre project. https://lnkd.in/ebZvbVBY
