The theme of NAIDOC Week 2024 is ‘Keep the Fire Burning. Blak, Loud and Proud,’ honouring the enduring strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures. Our nation is enriched by amplifying Indigenous voices, engaging with traditions, and telling their stories. NIDA seeks to educate and inspire our community as we nurture the next generation of creative storytellers. "First Nations people understand that fire can burn in different ways: cool or hot. When we express ourselves proudly, we ensure our voices are heard. If we suppress our expressions, anger can build up like the fuel loads on unmanaged country, leading to a destructive, hot fire. A hot fire, like unchecked anger, can be blind to its surroundings, unwittingly destroying everything in its path and hindering future growth. On the other hand, a cool fire burns gently, sees where it’s going and is welcomed by its surroundings. It cleanses and clears obstacles, nurturing an environment where future generations can thrive. By creating pathways for First Nations people to express our stories on the stage, screen and behind the scenes, we can be the fire that burns cool and positively influence our communities.” Director, First Nations and Outreach, Travis Cardona.

Our Five Years Strategic Plan (2021-2026) has been focused on key interventions. The interventions are creating more opportunities for communities to be more peaceful, secure and prosperous with young people at the center stage. #Youthled #LOYOC

The Kleinfelder team took time to acknowledge NAIDOC week and the importance of celebrating the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The team participated in events to learn more about First Nations culture, investigated and presented ways to promote and foster increased Indigenous participation in our industry, and incorporated conscious supply changes to our business. All with the aim of learning how to be the best ally we can be.   This NAIDOC week we at Kleinfelder continue to make conscious focused changes and challenge ourselves to learn and do more; for we believe even today’s smaller deliberate changes can become the instinctive strides forward of tomorrow. #NAIDOC2024

🌟 Introducing the Indigenous Culture Learning & Practice Committee at TRIEC!🌟 In continuation of our commitment to reconciliation, we are officially launching the Indigenous Culture Learning & Practice Committee at TRIEC, building on the foundation that has been in place for some time. While this committee has been in place, we are now renewing and strengthening its focus to further deepen our understanding and respect for Indigenous cultures, histories, and contributions. Through this revamp, we aim to drive greater awareness within TRIEC and extend this knowledge to our employer partners, promoting more inclusive practices in the workplace. The committee’s updated objectives include: - Knowledge Enhancement  - Deep Dive into History and Contemporary Issues  - Broadening Awareness  - Community Engagement  - Continuous Learning and Feedback At TRIEC, we remain committed to reconciliation and inclusion, both within our organization and across the broader community. As Australia celebrates NAIDOC week this week, it is worth appreciating the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and also an opportunity to learn about one of the oldest continuous living cultures on Earth 🌍. 💎 New Governance Requirements for Indigenous Data: Recently, Australian Public Service agencies adopted the Framework for Governance of Indigenous Data. Co-designed with Indigenous partners, this framework ensures better access to government-held Indigenous data for First Nations Australians. It emphasizes collaboration, capability-building, and an inclusive data system. 💎 These governance requirements aim to contribute directly to ‘closing the gap’ by enhancing data accessibility, quality management and ethical use of indigenous data, and promoting inclusivity via ensured respectful collaboration and decision making for uplifting these communities. This year’s NAIDOC Week will again celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with the theme of “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud”. ANZSOG acknowledges the importance of NAIDOC Week as a celebration which honours First Nations peoples and reminds us of the importance of our own journey to become a culturally competent organisation, making a positive contribution to First Nations policy and public administration. Held across Australia from 7-14 July 2024, this year’s NAIDOC Week recognises the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire as a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In NAIDOC week, and throughout the year, ANZSOG stands with the First Nations of Australia and supports aspirations for a just and equitable relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and for First Nations communities to have control over their own lives. Despite the progress we have made, there are still many structural and cultural changes that need to happen within public services to make this a reality, and we are proud that ANZSOG is working to help make those changes happen.
