“I am extremely grateful for the past fifteen years with AECOM and the opportunities afforded to me that aided in the progression of my career. Being apart of one of the most successful and well-known consulting companies in the world has provided exposure to many exciting engineering projects and some of the brightest minds in our industry. I am an outdoor sports enthusiast and enjoy: fishing, hunting, hiking (The Rockies, Grand Canyon, and Cape Breton were highlights), backpack camping (Algonquin), canoeing/portaging, skiing, playing ice hockey, motorcycling, and ATVing. Our family has been fortunate enough to experience several milestones recently as well, including the birth of our first child and completing the construction of our new custom home. I look forward to the coming years of continuing to develop relationships and experiences with the AECOM team.”   Kyle McTavishC.Tech, rcji - Civil Design & Survey Manager - AECOM - Water #AECOMvoices #AECOMcelebrates

“As a historian by training I get great joy in researching the history of Design-Build and the SpearinDoctrine. One of the most important legal decisions in that impacts the construction industry is the Spearin Doctrine. In doing research I found that there were many aspects of how projects were built over one hundred years ago that are of great interest. This project was largest construction project built in New York in 1905. The contract was for $757,800. These women were some of the construction and dock work staff that worked at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in 1905. Women were chosen for this work due to their ability to get into spaces that men could not. Notice the diversity of the women and lack of PPE. Also notice the women on the right were wearing high heels. This work could pay as much as $1.45 an hour. Days were 10-hour days with Saturday being 6 hours. What a difference from today.” William Reifsteck, II, FDBIA, CRIS, Director of Project Management We’re excited to share that Bill will present on "Design-Build Delivery in Public Works – The Basics, Benefits, and Spearin Doctrine" at the American Public Works Association,  APWA Southern California Chapter Lunch on September 26 from 11:30 AM - 1 PM at The Centre, Lakewood, CA. Don’t miss out on this insightful discussion on risk management and project delivery! Lead -Talent Management & Development, Middle East & Africa at AECOM

Last week, we had a delightful time at our #AECOM London office, where we gathered to brainstorm for our global Early Careers framework and connect with our Talent Management colleagues from around the world. It was incredibly insightful to learn about the Graduate Development Programs from various regions within AECOM! The energy in the room was palpable, and we engaged in some truly thought-provoking discussions, skillfully led by Vinessa Burnett, SHRM-SCP and Hilary Jeffery & well-supported by Vicky Johnson, Cissy Ho, Brad Koons, Kevin Kuri, MBA, Prosci®, Karen Barrow, Adam Phillips, Sarah Hodgens, Georgina Norrie, and Jennifer Fryer (Assoc CIPD) Vanessa Adams

Earlier this month, we were proud to attend this year’s Human Rights Campaign (HRC) National Dinner in Washington, D.C. HRC is America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for the LGBTQ+ people. “The HRC dinner was a powerful celebration of equality, emphasizing the importance of authenticity in the workplace. Embracing our true selves not only empowers us but inspires and gives permission for others to do the same. AECOM’s PRIDE ERG aims to create a safe and welcoming environment. When we foster a culture of authenticity and inclusion, we encourage our employees to bring their whole selves to work and be proud to do so.” Matt T.alley, Federal Civilian Agencies Portfolio Director & Pride ERG Executive Sponsor   He attended the star-studded event along with other AECOM staff including Jeffrey KosewskiKarl Jensen, Kerryn Murray, and Steven T. Johnson, PE. Matt and Jeff are among a handful of volunteers who lead the AECOM Pride Americas employee resource group (ERG), which brings together LGBTQ+ employees and their allies to build community, offer support, share resources, and facilitate employee training. AECOM has earned a top score on the HRC Foundation’s assessment of LGBTQ+ workplace equality for six consecutive years. #AECOM #AECOMVoices #WeShowUp

“I am delighted to celebrate my 5 years anniversary working as a Chartered Landscape Architect for AECOM. My Journey began in 2018, whilst studying for my Master’s degree, when I worked as a summer Intern in AECOM’s Dubai, UAE office. This professional experience gave me an invaluable insight into the projects I could be involved with from roads schemes to entirely new cities!  After completing my studies with a first, I was offered a graduate role in AECOM’s UK Landscape Architect department in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I have enjoyed working with a variety of stakeholders, designing and transforming communities by creating a variety of outdoor spaces.  In 2022, after a dedicated 6 months of eating, sleeping and breathing the practice questions, the fantastic guidance of my mentor and the extensive support of my AECOM colleagues, I gained my Chartership in Landscape Architecture. Following this, I have been given increasing responsibility for landscaping projects and teaching my colleagues using my knowledge.  Outside of work, I have fully embraced life in Northern Ireland. I am an active member of Belfast’s Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) sword fighting group, I have started set dancing lessons and gone to many ceilidhs. I love exploring Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, walking in the Mourne Mountains and watch many shows at Belfast’s Grand Opera House. I am looking forward to my future with AECOM and the career opportunities it will bring me. The pandemic reminded us of the physical and mental health benefits of well-designed outdoor spaces. Our work, as Landscape Architects, is invaluable and contributes to the well-being of our communities.”   Eleanor R. O. S. Street, Landscape Architect #AECOMvoices #AECOMcelebrates
