  • ‘By recycling at least one extra item as part of our daily recycling routine will make a huge difference,' Recycle Now.♻️ This year’s #RecycleWeek theme is ‘Rescue Me’ highlighting the importance of keeping recyclable items out of the bin and making better use of valuable resources.🗑️ At Tata Steel UK we are committed to playing our part in moving towards a sustainable global society. As a major producer of steel for packaging, we invest time, expertise and money in operations and initiatives that both promote and deliver sustainability in packaging. One of the initiatives that we increasingly support is Metal Matters, the metal packaging industry’s UK programme that aims to boost capture rates for metal packaging collected at kerbside.🥫 The most recent district to enrol in the revolutionary metal recycling scheme was Cherwell. Councillor Ian Middleton, portfolio holder for neighbourhood service at Cherwell District Council commented: “Recycling metal packaging is easy to do and brings many benefits. The energy saved by recycling just one metal can will power a TV for three hours. It shows that we can make a huge difference with one small action!”💡 Previously the MetalMatters initiative has led to an increase of 6.2% in steel can collection volumes.📈 #RecycleWeek #SteelRecycling #MetalRecycling #MetalMatters

  • And just like that, another fantastic year at UK Metals Expo - The Leading Event for the Entire Metals Supply Chain is over! Thank you to everyone who connected with us last week at the NEC Birmingham to learn more about our journey towards green steel solutions.♻️ On Wednesday this journey took a significant leap forward when Tata Steel UK signed a £500 million Grant Funding Agreement with the UK Government for our £1.25 billion green steel project in Port Talbot – a defining moment for the future of steelmaking in the UK. This landmark agreement will enable us to move swiftly with one of the largest industrial transition projects in the UK, focused on the installation of a state-of-the-art Electric Arc Furnace at our Port Talbot steelworks in Wales. Also on Wednesday, Nicola Jones Manager for Steel Packaging Recycling chaired the panel discussion on ‘Scrap Shake-up! The new era of scrap and raw materials in the UK supply chain’, leading conversations on how the UK’s scrap and raw materials supply chain is evolving and adapting to meet sustainability targets, reduce the dependency on imports, and strengthen national security. These conversations, along with invaluable customer catch-ups in the networking area, have set the stage for continued collaboration that will drive the packaging industry towards a greener future. #UKMetalsExpo #SustainableSteel #Decarbonisation #SteelPackaging
