🌍🔧 At CELSA Steel UK, we’re proud to be at the forefront of #sustainable steel manufacturing and the #CircularEconomy! Thanks to support from Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund (IETF), we have invested in a game-changing on-site steel scrap shredder. Listen to our Head of Circularity Andreu Dorca talk about how this project optimises the efficiency of our Electric Arc Furnace (EAF)—the most sustainable steelmaking technology available—by ensuring a consistent, high-quality feedstock, directly improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, and lowering CO₂ emissions. By processing 1.2 million tonnes of recycled UK scrap annually, we reduce reliance on virgin materials, strengthen the UK’s steel supply chain, and make significant strides in our decarbonisation plans. 🔄 Stronger circularity. Lower emissions. More sustainable steel. #SustainableSteel #IndustrialEnergyTransformationFund #GreenManufacturing #CircularEconomy #Decarbonisation #CELSASteelUK #InnovationForFuture

We were honoured to host the First Minister of Wales at CELSA Steel UK, where we showcased our world-class operations. Our #LowCarbon, #Circular reinforced bar plays a vital role in nationally significant infrastructure projects, from HS2 to Hinkley Point C—underscoring our commitment to driving the transition to a decarbonised economy. The visit, however, highlighted a pressing challenge: soaring electricity prices. These costs prevented us from demonstrating our Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), a cornerstone of sustainable steelmaking. Competitive electricity prices are essential for the long-term viability of our industry and its critical role in achieving the UK’s net-zero ambitions. That said, we were proud to showcase our Rod & Bar Mill in action. This facility not only produces reinforced steel but also supports emerging opportunities in the offshore wind sector and port infrastructure development. These advancements present a significant chance for Wales to lead in the #GreenEnergy revolution while supporting critical infrastructure growth. With the announced change of ownership on the horizon, CELSA Steel UK, under the new ownership of Sev.en Global Investments, is ready to embark on an exciting new chapter. We are committed to strengthening our position as a cornerstone of the UK’s industrial base, while continuing to support Wales’ economy through #Innovation, #Sustainability, and the direct employment of over 1100 people in Wales. We extend our gratitude to the First Minister for engaging in productive discussions about these challenges and opportunities. Together, we can build a resilient, low-carbon steel industry that drives sustainable growth for Wales and the UK. #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #UKSteel #CircularEconomy #EnergyTransition
