Windward Lighting Studio Featured Project Windward Lighting Studio (WLS) provided conceptual exterior façade lighting design services for Lakeview Multi-family 5-story building that houses numerous residential units, ground floor retail space, a parking garage, and outdoor amenity spaces, such as a pool, courtyard, and terrace. The lighting design highlights the architecture, while providing a welcoming appearance for residents and visitors. Fixtures were selected to meet the Owner’s design goals of a high-end aesthetic, but at an affordable price. This multi-family housing complex is part of a larger planned community with residential townhomes, retail shopping, restaurants, corporate workspace, and large amounts of public open space. Amenities include several parks, an adjacent lake with a hiking path, an amphitheater, a food truck area, and public art on display. The façade lighting design for the multi-family building helps to highlight a destination point and provide nighttime orientation, while being complementary to the aesthetics of the overall site. Each of the four floors presents a unique theme, including art, music, infrastructure, and nature. The palette of finishes and surface treatments required a careful application of light to complement the spaces and harmonize with their distinctive features. Bell Bank's new City Center Minneapolis location by our friends at Windward Lighting Studio features the creative integration of light and represents an upscale approach to banking. Lighting design was critical in order to render the quality and details of upscale materials, textures, and hardware. Windward Lighting Studio Featured Project The lighting design for this investment firm office space emphasizes simplicity and integration. In the conference room, a recessed linear rectangle guides the eye to the corner space's perimeter windows, allowing the skyline views to take center stage. The open office areas and breakout seating groups benefit from a combination of an illuminated ceiling grid and an illuminated cove, creating a comfortable environment. An indirect cove detail delineates the perimeter open office area from the interior private offices, complementing the clean interior and reducing reflections of direct light sources on the floor-to-ceiling glass partitions. Circulation corridors are lit entirely from a continuous indirect cove, while private offices feature simple recessed linear lights that integrate seamlessly into the ceiling, reinforcing the clean environment. In the kitchenette, an indirect cove separates the cabinet wall from the rest of the space, with continuous undercabinet lighting highlighting the classic white subway tile backsplash. A bespoke chandelier, suspended beneath a raised ceiling pocket lined with millwork, adds a neat contrast. Throughout the space, indirect lighting coves enhance the clean and cohesive design, as shown in the renderings.
