One Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update that has fans buzzing upgrades your phone’s camera. The new Pro Camera App adds features like the ability to take first-person photos anywhere on your island.

It seems like a simple addition, but it makes taking well-composed (and also hilarious) photos much easier. Now you can just go up to a villager, change the filter, and take a pic. Here’s how you can unlock it.

How do I unlock the new camera in ACNH?

First, head to the Nook Stop in Resident Services. Click “Redeem Miles” and then scroll and select Pro Camera App, which costs 1,500 Nook Miles. Buy it, and then it will instantly be added to your phone.

Handheld Camera and the fisheye lens

When you open the camera app on your phone, Animal Crossing: New Horizons takes you through a tutorial. If you want to enter first-person mode, press the Minus (-) button on your Switch (the game calls this the “Handheld Camera”). From there, you can switch through filters, as usual, using ZL and ZR, and flip to the fisheye lens at the end, or move the camera around using the directional pads. Happy snapping!

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 2.0 update was released on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2021. With it came a wide assortment of exciting changes to the game, like previously unannounced characters, Brewster’s cafe, and even cookable sea bass — exciting stuff!
