My work as a therapist is rooted in Social Justice and Equity and I approach our work together from a holistic lens. I believe that mental health is not isolated but is interconnected and all aspects of health contribute to our overall well being. After 10 years of agency experience, working with kids through play therapy and other evidence-based methods, I am opening up my schedule to private practice clients. I believe quality one on one care and family therapy can greatly improve children's emotional and mental struggles as well as support the family unit. I also work with families and adults with ADHD, Anxiety, and Trauma Related concerns.

Malinda has a Master's Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. She has experience working with adults, teens, group therapy, and Plain Communities. She has specialized in trauma research and mental health for insular religious groups, underserved inner-city communities, and individuals facing church hurt. She works with a range of concerns for ages 18+ including depression, anxiety, personality, and PTSD.

At times we all get overwhelmed or find situations and emotions difficult to manage. It is important to remember you do not have to go through that alone. There are tools and strategies to help us in difficult times. I am motivated to help people because people usually feel better and their lives improve with therapy. People do get better. I have been a therapist since 1999. I have experience with many situations and challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, and relationship issues.

My office is located in a non-traditional setting where I have teamed up with a massage therapist, to provide a calm environment for you to address your current struggles. My hope is that you are able leave the stress of life at the door and discover new ways to have that stress decreased or hopefully be eliminated. I provide both individual and couples therapy. I believe that issues in a relationship are not due to one member but the unit as a whole, and that is my focus for couples therapy.

My goal as a clinician is to be fully engaged and focused on creating strong therapeutic relationships with my clients. It is scary and difficult to admit that one needs help and I am here to help navigate those feelings. I listen, believe and validate all my clients. It is not my job to pass judgment. I am a guide to help process those struggles people have and to make sure that they are heard. I believe everyone has a story that they decide if and when they want to share it. I view counseling as a problem-solving process where we work initially on finding ways to help you feel you are no longer drowning emotionally, then begin a process of improving your awareness of the negative patterns of behavior in your life, and the thoughts and emotions that perpetuate those negative cycles. Once you feel more like you are on solid ground, we work to help you become more aware of the decision points when you can choose to stop from repeating old maladaptive behaviors and begin to develop new more positive behaviors which can help you find a path to a life with which you can be more satisfied.
