I believe the client is the expert in their own life story and can successfully solve problems, change, meet challenges, and heal with the support from counseling. I believe that every client is unique in their situations and in the issues brought to counseling.

Joleena is Certified in the Treatment of Sexual Addiction, is a Certified Betrayal Trauma Coach, a Certified Clinical Trauma and Addiction Specialist with a Masters of Psychology in Grief Counseling, and a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. Joleena specializes in helping couples working through betrayal and addiction of all kinds. She also works with clients that are struggling with anxiety, addictive behaviors, depression, PTSD, emotional abuse, mental abuse and trauma of various kinds. Her passion is to provide a safe space for her clients and to walk hand-in-hand with them, guiding them through the healing process.

Life offers ample opportunity to learn from adversity and other life experiences. My goal is to help guide you through accepting loss or change while transforming into a stronger overall person. To personalize and individualize care, I work from an eclectic, humanistic approach, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, art therapy, and other techniques while offering a safe, nonjudgemental healing space. Working in this field since 2006 has allowed me to further my education and licensure to provide quality care to individuals with a wide range of mental health, addiction, and life issues.

I believe individuals have greatness within themselves; it is important to work with a counselor who sees yours, even if you or others do not. I will strive to help you feel comfortable so you can be honest with me and yourself, about your problems, mood complaints or substance use. Often individuals already know what needs to happen, but do not know how to get there. I will meet you where you are, while guiding you to where you want to be.

Working with individuals in all walks of life has been my life's calling. I feel most drawn to those that are anywhere from adolescence to adulthood navigating any number of life's changes. The changes that we experience are not always within our control or ones that we would wish on anyone. This is why I feel particularly drawn to those that have experienced trauma in any of its forms, from war, to abuse and those that have experienced grief and loss. Walking with clients as they navigate their path through life to find what works best for them is a powerful experience that i feel particularly privileged to be able to be a part of.

I work with adults and couples who are facing painful impasses in their lives. When we encounter overwhelming problems that seem irresolvable, we may feel that life as we know it is over. And in fact, it is. The feeling that our life has become unlivable is a sign that we are ready to transcend our current way of living and pursue a richer one, marked by greater authenticity and love. This sort of self-transcendence is a possibility for anyone willing to listen to the call, including those who have an interest in practicing therapy in continuity with their religious faith.

I am a pre-licensed counselor, working under supervision, accepting clients starting January 1, 2024. I take a client-centered approach to counseling, emphasizing your strengths and building on them. I am passionate about working with individuals who are undergoing life transitions, wanting to improve relationships and communication patterns, coping with trauma and loss, struggling with substance use issues, and those managing long-term mental health conditions. I will create a safe space to foster honesty, healing, and self-discovery.

As a therapist, my journey is deeply rooted in personal transformation. Having navigated my own path of healing from childhood abuse, I understand the profound complexities of overcoming deep wounds and embracing self-love. My mission is to provide a sanctuary where families can embark on their healing journey, unveiling buried pains to foster compassion and prosperity. My professional background extends beyond therapy, having spent a decade as a lawyer working with unhealthy family cycles. This experience, among others, fueled my passion for guiding families away from negative cycles toward empowerment and positive change.

I believe that individuals can heal mentally and emotionally with the right resources, supports and encouragement. I am committed to providing a safe, therapeutic environment for clients to explore solutions to distressing life events and circumstances.

Life to me is an adventure of ups and downs where everyone has the potential to expand their emotional well-being. Through collaboration with the client, and often times a significant other or family, the therapeutic work done in session can promote a better quality of life.
