Over the last two days, we hosted the annual Professionals in Training (PIT) Symposium under the theme #CruisingNicely. As part of the programme, the PITs engaged with senior leadership, presented real-time operational challenges and proposed suitable solutions for our business. The symposium gives young professionals an opportunity to demonstrate their learning and development journey in line with our Sustainable, Growth and Impact Strategy. Congratulations to the following winners: - Siphokazi Madaka who was awarded the PIT challenge winner for 2024. She presented on the Creation of a Pseudo Wash Model at our Matla Mine. - In second place, was Metallurgist in Training, Jessica Mlambo, whose project was focused on Logistics Optimisation at our Belfast Digital Mine. - In third place, was Mining Engineer in Training, Nontuthuzelo Mlotshwa, who focused on the Conveyor Belt Energy Optimisation project at our Matla Mine. #CruisingNicely #PoweringPossibility #ExxaroProfessionalsInTraining

WATCH | Naresh Singh was born in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal into a family that had a long history in mining. His career journey started at Hlobane Colliery in 1979, where he worked within the Time Office, now known as Payroll. From day one, he embodied the values of the organisation, contributing tirelessly to the growth and success of his team. After Hlobane was acquired, he was transferred to Sishen Iron Ore Mine, where he looked after Payroll and HR activities, this was at a time where the organisation was undergoing many significant changes. His exceptional work ethic, and commitment to developing himself saw him being transferred to Iscor Mining Head Office, where he was appointed to lead systems and payroll implementation for various large-scale projects. During his tenure within projects, he left an indelible mark on everyone he had an opportunity to work with. Naresh reflected on his 45 years at our recent 2024 Long Service Awards with gratitude, nostalgia and pride at the fact that it took a village to get him here, that village being primarily his strict father who charted the path for him, and his loving wife who supported him during the highs and the lows. We celebrate Naresh’s incredible 45 years of service - an affirmative testament to the fact that people matter. Yesterday, our Grootegeluk Mine in Lephalale reached a major milestone with 12 years of fatality-free operations. Our employees are the backbone of the mining industry and keeping them safe remains a top priority. In commemorating the United Nations International Day of the Girl Child, on Friday 11 October we partnered with the #ImbubaFoundation and #SowetoCabalAthleticClub and together, we donated over 25,000 sanitary towels to the girls at Thaba Jabula Secondary School in Pimville, Soweto. This initiative supports the Foundation’s ambitious goal of donating more than 1 million sanitary towels to 25,000 girls across 40 schools in all nine provinces.
