Byron is another one of our inspiring Humans of RCL FOODS – a leader whose journey reflects the heart of our Purpose: We Grow What Matters. His story is one of resilience, purpose, and the relentless pursuit of making a difference – not just for himself, but for those around him. Raised in a marginalised community, Byron faced challenges that ignited his desire to make a positive impact. After eight months of searching for a purpose-driven role, he found his place at RCL FOODS. As Operations Executive, Byron fosters a culture of growth and support. He has mentored individuals like Irvin Makelane, who transitioned from risk officer to Distribution Manager, and guided Charles Mthembu through a pivotal career decision. His commitment to uplifting others is rooted in his own resilience, having navigated personal adversity while raising his younger siblings after the death of their parents. Byron believes that business, aligned with values, can be a powerful force for good. His message? "With education, hard work, and dedication, you can grow out of marginalised circumstances. You can rise, and you can make a difference." Read more about Byron's incredible story and impact at RCL FOODS here - https://lnkd.in/g_nKawiH

Meet Thulip Enterprize, a local business that has reaped the benefits from being part of Supreme’s Business Caterers and Bakers – Siya Phambili ne Supreme Programme. Thulip Enterprize began in 2015 as a catering company, serving weddings, birthday parties, and corporate events. In 2017, they expanded to a fast-food business, selling beloved fat cakes and kotas made with Supreme flour. Their customers couldn’t get enough! By 2020, with a little help from a baking friend, they began baking their own bread. Today, Thulip Enterprize runs a small bakery, creating delicious white and brown bread, fat cakes, dumplings, and more—all with Supreme flour. Driven by a love for their community and a background in social work, the founder of Thulip Enterprize, Wendy Machava has always been passionate about giving back. She grew up selling vegetables to support her family and now takes pride in feeding her community, especially the children who eagerly buy their hot fat cakes and fresh bread every day. Through Supreme’s loyalty programme, Wendy has earned rewards for uploading till slips from her Supreme purchases—this has included regular cashback and, most excitingly, a stand mixer. Amidst challenges like load shedding and rising costs, these rewards have helped her business grow. The mixer was a game-changer and felt like a heartfelt thank you from Supreme for her loyalty. Thanks to the rewards from Supreme, Thulip Enterprize has been able to give back even more to their community—recently handing out 198 free hotdogs as a gesture of gratitude. This highlights the ripple effect of living out the purpose of Growing What Matters—positively impacting individuals, communities, and beyond. #RCLFOODS #WeGrowWhatMatters #SupremeFlour

Not all superheroes wear capes…some have First Aid training! Safety is at the heart of what we do and our first aiders are the real-life superheroes who play a critical role in protecting our people. In emergencies, every second counts, and their quick response can literally save lives. That's why we’re committed to training and empowering them to Do More when it matters most. We recently held our 2nd RCL FOODS First Aid Competition, where teams across the business showcased their life-saving skills and emergency response knowledge. These dedicated individuals are at the forefront of keeping our workplace safe, and we celebrate their commitment to doing more for our people every day. Congratulations to our top teams: Siqalo Foods, Baking Milling and Sugar. We celebrate these everyday heroes who help make safety a way of life at RCL FOODS.
