🌍 Exciting Times at WSP in Africa! 🌍  This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming André-Martin Bouchard for his first-ever visit to our African business, WSP in Africa! As the Global Director of our Earth & Environment business and our Global Executive Director for ESG, his visit was a significant milestone for us.  André-Martin's focus was to immerse himself in our African business, meet our incredible people, and understand the unique markets we operate in. One of the standout moments was the Town Hall meeting, where he shared WSP’s ESG journey and our ambitious goals for 2025-2027, emphasizing Technical Excellence & Innovation.  He also toured our Advanced Tailings Laboratory, where he was impressed by the high complexity laboratory testing capacities. Equally, he was inspired by our multidisciplinary and diverse team at WSP in Africa.  We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to showcase our expertise and look forward to continuing our journey towards excellence together! 🚀  #WSPinAfrica #ESG #TechnicalExcellence #Innovation #TeamWSP #Sustainability #LeadershipVisit

Meet Pretty Sibiya, The Industry Meets Community Involvement Changemaker and one of the WSP in Africa bursary students when in her final year of studying! Pretty’s inspiring journey from humble beginnings in a small village in Mpumalanga to where she is today, as a civil engineer for a multinational multidisciplinary professional services firm, is a testament that obstacles need not deter one from accomplishing their goals, no matter how improbable they may seem. Applying for a bursary is what led Pretty to WSP in her final year of studies. While her internship coincided with the height of the global pandemic, the physical limitations of the pandemic also prepared Pretty further for a permanent position with WSP and come to grips with working within the digital environment, as WSP uses digitalisation extensively to be innovative. Pretty also represents WSP in industry involvement with Consulting Engineers South Africa Youth Professional Forum (CESA YPF) and passionately participates in WSP's #CSR outreach initiatives. If you'd like to follow in Pretty's footsteps then our bursary scheme is now accepting applications👇 Click the jobs tab on the WSP in Africa Linkedln page to access the bursaries #WSPChangemakers

Meet Shaniel Lakhoo, The Power Player Changemaker 👋 Like many engineers, Shaniel Lakhoo's path towards the profession began with an insatiable curiosity about how things worked. Following his undergrad graduation, he joined WSP as an electronic engineer under the Property and Buildings (P&B) services division and designing extra low voltage services for projects in different sectors. In his current role, Shaniel has been involved in a mix of both local and international projects. From designing building management systems, electronic access control, camera surveillance, and audio-visual systems for a hospitality client in the Seychelles, to implementing electronic services and an environmental monitoring system in a laboratory for pharmaceutical company Roche. The most recent feather in Shaniel’s cap was presenting a conference paper based on his master's degree project at the 2024 EEEIC International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering that took place in Rome.
