Hydrogen power for more sustainable aircraft maintenance ✈️ 🔧 💙 In an exciting step toward more sustainable operations, Austrian Airlines has launched a pilot project at Flughafen Wien - Vienna Airport, testing hydrogen as a clean energy source for aircraft maintenance. The "H2Genset," developed by TEST-FUCHS, is being trialed to provide emission-free power to service an Airbus A320—offering a glimpse into the future of airport operations. Hydrogen could play a key role in reducing CO₂ emissions in ground-based operations. This initiative underscores Austrian Airlines' commitment to innovation and sustainability, aligning with Lufthansa Group's goal of achieving net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2050 by reduction and compensation measures. By exploring the potential of hydrogen technology, Austrian Airlines is paving the way for more environmentally friendly operations.

When motivated colleagues come together, incredible things happen! 💪 During this year’s #CleanUpWeeks, a Lufthansa Group-wide initiative focused on waste reduction and disposal, colleagues from various departments united to collect waste during flights, at the Viennese Prater, and even remotely on exotic beaches in the South Seas! ✈️🏖️ All collected waste will be responsibly recycled, and reOil-eligible plastics will be converted into pyrolysis oil! ♻️ To make an even bigger impact, for every bag collected, €5 will be donated to the help alliance's Ballingho training center in Gambia. A heartfelt thank you to all the dedicated colleagues who took part in this initiative. Together, we can make a real difference! 🙌❤️

Spürt man gleich.” won three silver dolphins at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards in the disciplines of "Marketing Communication – B2C", "Brand Image Videos", and "Tourism Films – Services" 🎬✈️. A remarkable achievement granted by a jury of experts – after all there were around 800 submissions from 46 countries! Our campaign movie convinced the jury with its distinctive triads that reflect the unique Austrian flair, conveying our brand promise in an authentic, humorous, and modern way. Did you know that not all fuel is created equal? 🌍✈️ At Austrian Airlines, we’re taking steps towards reducing our CO2 emissions by gradually integrating Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) into our operations. Our colleague Anna explains why SAF plays a crucial role in our CO2 reduction targets. Today's SAF is produced from residuals, such as used cooking oil, reducing CO2 emissions by more than 80% on a lifecycle basis compared to fossil fuels. Tackling food waste above the clouds! At Austrian Airlines, we’re committed to reducing waste and making the most of every meal onboard. 🍽️✈️ Instead of letting perfectly good food go to waste, we’ve launched a program that offers leftover meals to passengers at a reduced price towards the end of the flight. This way, we’re minimizing waste while giving our passengers more value and choice. Thomas and our crews ensure that every meal counts. Not everything that looks like plastic is destined for trash! Our onboard cups and other plastics are part of an innovative process driving us towards a circular economy. ♻️ Our colleague Thomas demonstrates how our dedicated crews voluntarily collect used cups and other plastics that are then to be processed into synthetic oil—turning waste into a valuable resource. By rethinking how we manage materials, we're flying closer to a more sustainable future. Our newest fleet family members, the Airbus A320neo and the Boeing B787-9, form an essential part of our CO2 reduction path! 🚀 Our colleague Harald explains that by embracing aerodynamic designs, lighter materials, and more efficient engines, our modern aircraft are reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 20% compared to their predecessors. As Europe’s largest airshow opened its doors in Austria, as the national carrier we could not miss out on the chance to share our love for flying with fellow aviation enthusiasts! 🎉✈️ Two information booths, warmly hosted by our wonderful colleagues, provided interested visitors with valuable insights into a career in the aviation industry. 🙌 Our booths at the WKO Skillshub and “Technical Training Austrian” sparked engaging conversations about the wide range of job opportunities available at Austrian Airlines. Attendees also enjoyed our iconic Austrian tattoos, had fun spinning the wheel of fortune for great prizes, and were surprised with seeing our new Dreamliner in action. 🤩 Thank you to everyone who stopped by! Introducing Austrian Airlines' first KidsCamp! 🏕️ Summer is our busiest season, with the skies full and our schedules packed. But for parents, those nine weeks of #summer vacation can be a real juggling act! 🌀 That's why we launched the Austrian KidsCamps this year together with our partner Ferienbestzeit. This year's brand-new adventure featured two exciting, sporty, and action-filled camps designed specifically for the children of our employees. The kids had an absolute blast! 😍 And we are thrilled that we could lend a helping hand to our parents with this initiative.
