🔋 Major Milestone at the Port Hedland Solar Farm and Battery Project 🔋 APA Group is pleased to announce the successful energisation and commissioning of the Port Hedland Power Station 66 kV switchyard extension. This achievement marks a significant step towards the completion of the Port Hedland Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Solar Project. The switchyard extension, constructed by UGL, involved expanding the existing 66 kV switchyard with two transformer bays, two 33/66 kV 120 MVA step-up transformers, and an indoor 33 kV switchboard. This infrastructure is crucial for connecting the solar farm and BESS to the North West Interconnected System (NWIS) grid. With the grid connection now established, the energisation and commissioning of the solar farm and BESS are expected to follow shortly. Congratulations to the entire team on this milestone! Yesterday, CEO and Managing Director, Adam Watson, spoke on a panel at The Australian Financial Review Energy and Climate Summit. Alongside Jane Norman, CEO and Managing Director of Cooper Energy, Tony Cudmore, Executive Vice President - Strategy and Climate at Woodside Energy and Bernadette Cullinane, National Lead Partner - Energy, Resources and Industrials at Deloitte, Adam spoke about the significant role of gas to our industry and economy. “As more renewables come to market and as we retire coal, the role of gas is going to become significantly more important.”

Elizabeth McNamara, APA Group’s Executive Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, has been appointed to the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) Board. Her appointment follows Kevin Lester’s impressive 16-year tenure, during which he has contributed immeasurably to the development of the gas and pipeline industry. Liz steps into her new role as a key advocate for gas in the energy transition, reinforcing APA’s long-standing relationship with APGA. "We are seeing an increased recognition of the critical role gas plays in the energy transition, thanks in no small part to the advocacy efforts of organisations like APGA," said Liz.

✨ We’re excited to share that APA Group has been honoured with the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) Inclusion and Diversity Award this year! This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to building a workplace where everyone feels safe, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. While we've made great strides with initiatives like 18 weeks of parental leave and flexible working arrangements, we know there’s more to do to build a truly inclusive environment for all.
