Australia’s biomethane sector has taken another significant step forward.
Jemena and Melbourne-based biogas developer, Valorify have signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together to develop biomethane production in regional NSW.
As part of the MOU Jemena will assess the feasibility of injecting biomethane produced by Valorify into the New South Wales gas distribution network – which is currently connected to over 1.5 million homes and businesses.

The Hon. Catherine King MP has released the Australian Government's Aviation White Paper, highlighting the role of sustainable aviation fuel in its transport decarbonisation plan.
"Access to sustainable aviation fuel will be critical for the sector’s transition, and we are fast tracking the development of a domestic low carbon liquid fuel industry to ensure Australia is able to maximise aviation’s contribution to net zero," said Minister King.
The government’s commitments include developing a certification scheme to verify the emissions from the production of SAF; undertaking consultation on the costs and benefits of options for a production incentive and demand-side measures; and providing access to the $1.7 billion Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund to support the development of nascent LCLF production technologies.
