  • Last week, we proudly opened ’Marikit Santiago: Proclaim Your Death!’, a major solo exhibition exploring themes of transformation, faith, and identity through immersive and collaborative art practices. Attendees experienced Marikit’s standout installation of a reduced-scale cardboard church, created in collaboration with Santiago’s architect father, Noy. The construction process, which incorporates the family’s architectural and artistic skills, is a tribute to both Filipino heritage and the resilience of local communities. The launch was officially opened by Paschal Daantos Berry, with an electrifying live DJ set by PA777IENCE. Guests included representatives from the Filipino Embassy, while children got creative in the interactive ‘Alter Altar’ space. ‘Marikit Santiago: Proclaim Your Death!’ is now open and runs until 16 March 2025 – Discover upcoming public programs here: bit.ly/3PDpXVp — Marikit Santiago: Proclaim Your Death! is commissioned by Campbelltown Arts Centre. The exhibition’s title refers to the memorial acclamation in the Catholic Liturgy of the Eucharist, invoking the death and resurrection of Christ as symbols of renewal and change. Santiago’s practice weaves together personal faith, cultural traditions, and the diasporic experience of her Filipino-Australian family, creating a space for reflection on displacement, survival, and the evolving nature of identity. __ ‘Marikit Santiago: Proclaim Your Death!’ is commissioned by Campbelltown Arts Centre.
