The latest designs for the Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment showcase the modern and enhanced healthcare facilities and the expanded services to be delivered.  The redevelopment will include construction of a new two-level acute services building that will house an expanded emergency department, two inpatient wards featuring single and twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a new medical imaging service, and day surgery spaces.  Construction is expected to start in 2025, following the appointment of a main works contractor. The Rouse Hill Hospital project team recently hosted a Working with Country session, facilitated by Julie Jones Webb, a proud Dharug woman. The session was an invaluable opportunity to learn about the history and significance of Country around Rouse Hill, helping to better understand and respect the local culture as we plan and design the project.  The insights shared by the local Dharug representatives will guide Connecting to Country efforts and future engagement with the local Dharug community as the project progresses through the design process. Three new, fully furnished key worker accommodation units have arrived at Narrandera Health Service, which will support the recruitment of health workers in the Murrumbidgee region. The units are light-filled with a modern kitchen, living and dining area, internal laundry and a bedroom with ensuite. Secure access and landscaped surroundings add to the thoughtful design of the units. Staff are expected to move into the new accommodation before the end of the year. The doors officially open today to the brand-new Liverpool Hospital Integrated Services building. It was wonderful to see so many community members explore the new facility during last week’s Welcome All Cultures Community Open Day, where groups toured the new hospital building. From new birthing suites to an expanded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a new pathology department, the new hospital will transform healthcare in south west Sydney. The purpose-built five-storey building is the centrepiece of Phase 1 of the $830 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct redevelopment. The Eurobodalla Regional Hospital project team recently donated six tricycles to the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Batemans Bay, bringing joy to the children visiting the retreat. The tricycles were assembled during a team building exercise with the integrated project team including Health Infrastructure, Southern NSW Local Health District, Multiplex and RP Infrastructure, with each participant using only one hand. This exercise not only fostered teamwork and collaboration but also supported families in need. Health Infrastructure led an inspiring site tour with members of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) at the St George Hospital Stage 3 Redevelopment. The tour provided NAWIC members with a unique opportunity to explore this site, while expanding their networks and enhancing their skills and industry knowledge. Women working on site are making significant contributions to the project and their careers, with more than 15 per cent of construction hours delivered by women on site. St George is also one of 8 Health Infrastructure projects participating in the NSW Government’s Women in Construction-focused Infrastructure Skills Legacy Program, which includes embedding project officers on site to help attract, upskill and retain women in the construction industry. South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) has been named a finalist in the Excellence in Multicultural Healthcare category at the 2024 NSW Health Awards for its innovative community engagement on the $830 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital.   With 50% of the local community speaking a language other than English at home, a specially designed engagement program was developed, including face-to-face in-language information sessions that engaged hundreds from diverse multicultural groups. New key worker accommodation has arrived in Finley, which will make it easier to recruit and retain health workers. The modern and fit-for-purpose units will be fully furnished and self-contained, and feature a screened verandah, light-filled living and dining area, modern kitchen, bedroom with ensuite, and internal laundry. Parking spaces and secure access are also provided.   Healthcare workers are expected to move into the new accommodation before the end of the year, once installation, connection of services, fencing, landscaping, and furnishing of the units is completed. The new units are being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $45.3 million Key Worker Accommodation Program which is providing health worker accommodation across rural and regional NSW.
