The NSW Government has announced major planning reforms, empowering us to increase the supply of affordable housing solutions. Thanks to an expanded State Significant Development (SSD) approval pathway, we have received the green light to deliver 100% affordable housing dwellings in our Lachlan’s Line development in Macquarie Park. Our partner Link Wentworth will now progress with construction plans. Landcom is proud to announce that our proposal to deliver 330 new homes in Orange, with 20% allocated as affordable housing, is now on exhibition for community feedback. This rezoning proposal for the Redmond Place Precinct is the first project to progress through the Minns Labor Government’s Social and Affordable Housing Rezoning Pathway, a key initiative to tackle the housing crisis. This faster, simplified process will help to speed up the delivery of much needed homes, including affordable housing, across the state. We are eager to collaborate with the Orange community and Orange City Council, as your involvement is crucial in making this vision a reality. The Public exhibition is open until 12 November 2024. Our CEO Alexander Wendler was on the Committee for Sydney ‘Defining Density’ panel along with Abbie Galvin, Prof Hazel Easthope & Tom Mackellar sharing valuable insights on the non-negotiables of urban density. Helping shape a vision for a more liveable and sustainable Sydney, at Landcom we're committed to turning these principles into reality. Special mention to Lendlease, Committee for Sydney & Eamon Waterford for hosting us, and to our Density Done Well partners Government Architect NSW. As part of #NationalSafeWorkMonth we had the privilege of welcoming Patrizia Cassaniti, who shared the heartbreaking story of her son Christopher Cassaniti’s tragic death, due to a jobsite scaffold collapse in Sydney during 2019. Spreading the message of #ChristophersLaw, the powerful presentation underpinned the importance of work health safety in every workplace and aimed for a shift in thinking where safety complacency is removed with a desire for all parties to go home to their family and friends after work. In 2023, 200 workers were fatally injured at work according to Safe Work Australia’s Key Work Health and Safety Statistics Australia 2024. National Safe Work Month encourages all individuals and organisations to prioritise work health and safety (WHS) and take preventative action to reduce the number of work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities. At Landcom we are truly proud of our focus on staff wellbeing and believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace fosters a positive working environment. Our 2024 office refurbishment involved reimagining our office layout to drive cultural alignment, improve productivity, enable technology and enhance overall employee wellbeing. This included: • An inclusive workplace that incorporates universal design principles • Diverse, flexible spaces that incorporate technology for seamless in-person and online collaboration, and focus and retreat areas to support neurodiverse needs • Biophilic sound-scaping and improved acoustical tactics that absorb sound and help reduce distraction • Improved communal and social spaces, supporting connection and a sense of belonging. This approach was acknowledged in 2022 when we were announced as finalists in the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) Awards in the Mental Health category. Landcom and Sydney Metro are working together to plan new places for communities to live, work, shop, and play near the Metro North West Line. Our Sydney Metro Northwest Places placemaking program fosters a sense of community and belonging as these places evolve. The program includes art, food, performance, culture, and events which help to create a legacy of sustainable places.
