What a fantastic morning in Toowoomba! The final event of the 2024 Queensland Major Projects Pipeline Report (QMPPR) series was a resounding success, with 230 guests in attendance. The Toowoomba-Surat Basin region emerged as a focal point, with projections showing peak project activity reaching $2.1 billion by 2027/28. Initiatives like the Toowoomba to Warwick Water Pipeline, Cressbrook Dam Upgrade, Wivenhoe and Somerset Dam Upgrades and Big T Pumped Hydro drive this surge. While these projects promise transport and renewable energy advancements, the region faces challenges, including labour shortages, material constraints, and escalating costs. With over $1 billion in mega projects and a demand for 10,000 workers, this corridor stands out as a key growth hotspot alongside Wide Bay, Brisbane, and Fitzroy. A special thank you to Andrew Chapman and Kim Hetherington, as well as our fantastic MC, Lance MacManus. Our panellists, Aaron Zamykal 🚀, John Whitehead, and Ben Somerville, shared powerful insights into the role of AI. They emphasised the importance of data sovereignty—ensuring businesses maintain control over their own data rather than relying on third-party providers—to unlock AI’s full potential and drive productivity through smarter, more strategic applications. Thank you to our partners ACCIONA AU & NZ, CSQ - Construction Skills Queensland, John Holland, Webuild, Bennett + Bennett, TACTIC, BMD Group, Sunwater, Queensland Hydro, Degnan, Wulguru Technical Services Pty Ltd, Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise, Australian Industry Group (Ai Group), Mitez Inc, RDA Townsville and North West Queensland Inc and Gladstone Engineering Alliance. The success of this event and the entire series wouldn't have been possible without our esteemed partners. ➡️ Download the Report here: https://lnkd.in/gcmTtAY9 We are excited about the opportunities in store for the Toowoomba region and look forward to seeing how these major projects will shape our communities. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our speakers, panellists, and attendees for making this event, the final one in the series, successful. #QMCA #QMPPR2024 #IndustryEvent #QueenslandsFuture #Infrastructure #ArtificialIntelligence #Construction
