𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝗨𝗖𝗘 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗡𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 We had the pleasure of attending Sydney University Civil Engineers (SUCE) Industry Night as Gold Sponsors, held in the Refectory Building at USYD. The event successfully brought together top industry and university talent. Our team, including Christopher Li, Mohammed Kassira, Simon Sapcas and James Hanselmann enjoyed meeting ambitious students and discussing our current and past projects, as well as their personal experiences at RBG. A highlight was the discussion on integrating machine learning and AI into early design workflows, which could streamline the concept design phase by aligning architectural and structural design. It was inspiring to hear the students’ innovative ideas for the industry’s future. Christopher Li also spoke on the industry panel, sharing insights about his role in the 8 Phillip St project and the challenges he faced, the skills he’s developed over his career, and the key traits RBG looks for in interns. Making the most of the final days of winter, members of our Melbourne and Adelaide teams set off on their annual ski trip. 𝗦𝘆𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻! A key development in Australia’s largest public transport project, the new Sydney Metro City Line has officially opened. Since 2016, Robert Bird Group has been involved in this journey, delivering design and advisory services from Stage 1 through to construction across all sites. We’re particularly proud to have led the final structural design for Waterloo and Crows Nest Stations with each station involving approximately 50 people and required over 65,000 hours of work. Additionally, our team provided temporary works and construction engineering expertise for the new Sydenham, Central, Gadigal and Victoria Cross Stations along with the Sydney Metro City & Southwest Tunnel and Station Excavation. “Contributing to the Sydney Metro project has been an incredible journey for us. 𝗥𝗕𝗚’𝘀 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀' 𝗘𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗢' 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 "𝗪𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗜𝘁" 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 Robert Bird Group's very own Alex Wildy has successfully completed an epic cycling challenge, riding from Lands' End to John O' Groats, a gruelling 1402.74km journey, to raise funds for the cancer support charity "We Get It."   Alex's incredible journey was inspired by a close friend's battle with cancer and the invaluable support they received from "We Get It." Set up and run by people who have experienced cancer firsthand, the charity ensures people living with cancer don’t face it alone, providing essential services and a sense of community for those affected by the disease.   It's not too late to support this worthy cause and help Alex hit his target! While the competition was friendly, the competitive spirit was certainly on show.
