Today we recognised R U OK? Day by coming together to reflect on the importance of mental health and supporting one another. It’s a day that encourages us to check in with our colleagues, not just today but every day. As a team, we took time to have meaningful conversations and participate in activities that reminded us of the power of simply asking, "Are you OK?". To further show our commitment, we gifted everyone lunchboxes from TradeMutt, which donates 50% of its profit to TIACS. The vibrant design is intended to spark conversations about mental health. Let’s continue to be there for each other every day of the year. #SelectPlantAustralia #RUOKDAY #TradeMutt #TIACS #MentalHealthAwareness

Congratulations to Daniel, our Logistics Services—Delivery Lead, on presenting at the Sydney Metro Heavy Vehicle Safety Forum! His presentation highlights our commitment to innovation and safety across construction logistics. We're proud of the team's dedication to driving positive change in the transport industry.
I recently had the privilege to attend and present at the Sydney Metro Heavy Vehicle Safety Forum on behalf of the Gamuda Australia Laing O'Rourke consortium who are delivering the Sydney Metro West - Western Tunnelling Package (WTP). My presentation, “Improving Heavy Vehicle Safety with Technology Integration”, focused on how we had implemented technology-enabled solutions to drive safety and productivity improvements across #WTP. The event was filled with thought-provoking presentations that showcased a strong commitment to foster real change and drive a safer transport industry. If you’re interested in exploring ways to improve heavy vehicle safety through technology integration, feel free to reach out. Congratulations and farewell Tony Benton, Select Supervisor and Flash Butt Welder Technician, for his remarkable 26-year journey with the company. As Tony embarks on his well-deserved retirement, we reflect on his incredible career and contributions. Tony began his career as a Fitter with Barclay Mowlem in 1998. After Laing O'Rourke acquired the company in 2006, he remained there until 2010 when he transitioned to Select. His extensive experience in the Construction and Rail industry has taken him across the globe, from Thailand to Taiwan, and throughout Australia. Tony has worked in some of the most remote locations, from the Northern Territory to Port Hedland and, most recently, Perth. One of Tony's most notable achievements was his role as Track Laying Supervisor on the Alice Springs to Darwin Rail Link in 2003. Over two years, Tony and his team laid 700km of new rail, overcoming the challenges of extreme heat, persistent flies, and the difficulties of maintaining equipment in remote locations. This experience not only showcased Tony's leadership and technical skills but also paved the way for him to take on other significant projects and train others in the industry. During his tenure at Laing O'Rourke, Tony travelled to America to gain specialist skills in operating the Flash Butt Welder. His expertise and mechanical background led him to join Select in 2010, where he played a key role in planning the first certification course in Flash Butt Welding in Western Australia. Tony, we wish you all the best in your retirement and thank you for your dedication and hard work. Your legacy will continue through the many professionals you've trained and inspired.

🚨#AustralianFirst alert!🚨 Our CPB Contractors team delivering the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport, Station Boxes and Tunnelling project is trialling Australia’s first 250-tonne electric crawler crane.🏗️ Unlike its diesel counterparts, the electric crane operates in total silence and has zero emissions. Our Claremont Meadows site team used the crane to lower heavy precast segments down to the tunnel boring machines that built the metro tunnels. The electric crane is still busy lifting materials into the shaft for the construction of the cross passages and the floor along the tunnels.
