It's no secret that Transdev proud operator of Sydney Ferries is part of our city's cultural fabric, but never quite so literally as this. Artist Kate Newby has repurposed rope from our MV Sirius as part of a beautiful installation entitled 'Hours in wind', currently free to visit and on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia until 4 September. We're honoured to be part of these sculptures which "invite [viewers] to consider the poetic qualities of everyday materials and their surrounding environment". More info: https://bit.ly/4dPi61y

Here's a little flashback of the team at Transdev proud operator of Sydney Ferries holding a gigantic novelty cheque to brighten your Wednesday. But not just any novelty cheque: one representing just part of the over $5,600 they've raised for Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF)'s this year. The donations were sourced from a range of internal initiatives, including proceeds from long-term unclaimed lost property. A huge shout out to our Lost Property Administrator, Lynette, who works tirelessly at reuniting our customers with their lost property and ensures the proceeds for property which unclaimed go towards supporting great causes like this one. It's a pleasure to be supporting the SCHF, who raise funds to help children access the best possible healthcare, whenever and wherever they may need it. ⚫ Last Friday, members of Transdev's Senior Leadership Team took part in a cultural immersion courtesy of our partner Tribal Warrior Aboriginal Corporation. 🟡 Aunty Donna and Jacob Saunders acted as figurative and literal guides through a day that started early at the The National Centre of Indigenous Excellence. for a boxing session with local youth; a walking tour of Redfern during which Aunty Donna yarned on the historical and contemporary significance of the area; followed by an incisive afternoon of learning and reflection. 🔴 To share in the history and culture of the world's oldest continuous culture is incredibly humbling and we're so grateful to our Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander partner organisations whom we walk on our reconciliation journey. Our thanks to everyone who enabled this affecting experience and we look forward to more as we progress our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (read more here: https://bit.ly/3Xra9tD). 🌈 Today is Wear it Purple Day, a chance to loudly celebrate our LGBTIQA+ community and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to a safe, supportive environment for every Journey Maker. This week, Transdev John Holland Buses NSW and Transdev Sydney Light Rail held panel sessions at which Journey Makers from the LGBTIQA+ and allies spoke on their lived experiences, joined by our partners Matt Akersten and Zachary Lopez from ACON Pride in Diversity and Darren Otten FIEP from Asuria Australia. Huge thanks to everyone who helped organise or participate in these events, helping us on our continuing journey to champion, promote and empower inclusion across our operations. 💜 Learn more here: https://bit.ly/4dKd5Hi

If you follow this page, we're likely preaching to the converted. But having long operated heavy rail in Wellington, we'd like to congratulate the Australasian Railway Association (ARA)'s on their newly-released report in partnership with EY, 'The Benefit of Rail to New Zealand'. For anyone involved in the space or needing to plead the case, it's essential, affirming and highly recommended reading.
#NewZealandRail // The ARA released a report today showing the rail industry generates $3.3 billion in economic benefits to New Zealand each year and creates more than 1,000 new jobs in other sectors such as construction and wholesale and retail trade. The Benefit of Rail to New Zealand clearly demonstrates the critical and growing role rail plays in moving the New Zealand economy forward. Each year rail contributes almost $1 billion towards New Zealand’s GDP, as well as a total of $2.3 billion in other benefits to the country. • $1.53 billion – reduced travel time and road congestion • $291 million – less adverse health effects • $267 million – lower fuel and maintenance costs • $161 million – less crashes, deaths, and serious injuries • $36 million – less domestic greenhouse gas emissions Rail saves travellers 8.8 million hours and 10.3 million hours of driving annually in Auckland and Wellington respectively, and results in eight less road fatalities each year. This results from 23 million passenger journeys and 17 million tonnes of freight being moved by rail each year. Rail also results reduces fossil fuel consumption by almost 150 million litres per year, taking 2,000 fuel tankers off the road and saving $195 million. 📄 Read the report here: https://lnkd.in/eDceG6Et 💡 Key facts: https://lnkd.in/guzkK9qe 📣 Media release: https://lnkd.in/gyweWr7S #rail #newzealand

🚍 Signed up for our special webinar on Bus Rapid Transit yet?🌏 This Wednesday 28 August at 4:30—6pm (GMT+10) we’ll be hosting a free online session on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), a mode which has found dedicated corridors internationally but is more seldom seen here at home. That’s why we’ve called in global expert Rémi Bessaguet, who’ll be joined by Sydney-based Network Planner Joseph Yurisich to discuss worldwide success stories, how we might ignite uptake locally and help you understand more about the shape of transport to come. If that sounds good, simply hit this link to RSVP: https://bit.ly/4faOAUR and join us this Wednesday for some insights you won’t find elsewhere:

This week our Chief Performance Officer Gary Iddon took the stage at the 14th Annual NSW Major Projects Conference 2024 – The Roadmap to Staying Ahead at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney). Gary held forth on our investment into Sydney’s ferry fleet and the delivery of key initiatives which have optimised their performance, providing an insight into how our strategic approach has led significant operational improvements and set the course for continued success. The two-day conference brought together a public/private cross-section of senior executives to discus best-practice solutions in the delivery of major infrastructure projects and it was a pleasure to be among them. Thanks to our fellow speakers, conference delegates and the team at Expotrade Global for this fantastic forum and the dialogue it enabled.

Since entering service, our fleet of 19 zero emission buses in Brisbane have travelled more than 1.3 million KMs, capturing the hearts of our passengers (and ourselves) in the process.😍 Here’s just a few reasons why: ✅ Cleaner: They've offset +271 MT of CO2 emissions (roughly 41kg per bus, per day). ✅ Quieter: Whisper quiet on the road (but with a low hum to alert nearby pedestrians or vehicles). ✅ Locally assembled: 17 buses were assembled nearby at Eagle Farm. ✅ Functional: A recharge time from flat of just four hours with a range of up to 300km ✅ Sustainable: Homed in a depot powered by 300 kW of solar panels and 25 Tesla Powerwall batteries. Thanks to our partners Volvo Buses, Translink (Department of Transport and Main Roads), Volgren and our team of in-house expert Journey Makers helping us on our drive toward the future.

A pleasure to have our CEO Brian Brennan, GAICD take the stage at Connect Rail earlier this month, where he spoke on how we're using data-driven innovation to connect communities here at home and abroad. He also had the pleasure of joining a stimulating discussion on decarbonisation alongside an industry cross-section which included Rob Ramsden of Rio Tinto, Joo Yin Ong of EnergyAustralia, Dean Newburn of Wabtec Corporation, steered ably by their moderator Jane Gillespie. Thanks to Tina Karas, Kate Twentyman, Sarah Ingram and the whole team at Informa, as well as everyone that came along to participate or spectate. We're already looking forward to the next one!

It's always good to finish Friday on a high and these shots from a recent Have A Go Program held by Transdev John Holland Buses NSW with Uniting War Memorial Hospital's Aged Rehabilitation Centre are just the ticket. The Have A Go Program is a fantastic initiative utilised across many of our modes and focused on a core belief of ours: that public transport should be accessible to all. It helps reintroduce, refamiliarise and instill confidence in passengers who may have different needs or experiences than their counterparts. In this case, our fantastic team gave these folk the run through of how to plan their trip, safely board a bus, pay the fare and armed them with the info they need to navigate the network with independence and ease. Thanks to everyone who helped coordinate and deliver this great program - we hope it makes your day just like it did ours 🌞
