Our team recently attended the North East Link's Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) launch site in Watsonia, Victoria. The project aims to connect Melbourne's freeway network, facilitating the removal of over 15,000 trucks from local roads and streamlining travel in the area. TTW has contributed to all the enabling structural and civil design for the site establishment, including a suite of auxiliary structural works in the TBM launch box. One of the key attributes for the site was a structural pavement that caters for the various loads and movements of the TBM. The slab was designed for anywhere up to 250kPa or 25 tonne per square metre (locally) to deal with everything the project team needed. We look forward to helping this project progress further in 2025. In 2024, we saw the demand for excellence in engineering solutions continue to evolve. By staying true to our company values of Collaboration, Technical Excellence, Initiative, and delivering a Personal Approach we have continued to grow as a global business. It has been a privilege to work on some landmark projects alongside valued clients, delivering design solutions that exceed their expectations and earning us global award recognition in the process. This year alone, our projects have received more than 20 awards. Most notably this year we farewelled our former Managing Director, Robert Mackellar as he retired from his executive career and transitioned into the role of Non-Executive Chair. Rob left a legacy of excellence and leadership that has inspired us all, and our current Managing Director, Kevin Berry, has proudly continued this legacy, leading our team through various industry changes. As we near the end of 2024, we've reflected on some of TTW's highlights and milestones below. We'd like to wish all those who celebrate a happy and safe holiday and look forward to continuing delivering quality engineering solutions for our clients in 2025. Our Australian offices will be closed from 1pm, Friday 20 December, and will reopen on Monday 6 January 2025. #YourPartnerInEngineering #TTW

The spectacular glulam timber roof soaring above the new Sydney Fish Market stands as the project’s defining feature, comprising 594 individual glulam beams with a total volume exceeding 1600 cubic metres. Through XCEL, TTW’s Construction Engineering team was contracted to undertake extensive stability assessments of the structure during the construction phase, and provide temporary works engineering, as well as installation sequencing and methodology to support the complex construction process. A multitude of considerations had to be made, such as existing structure constraints, minimising temporary loads on permanent timber and concrete structures, managing the availability of proprietary props, and optimising installation and removal sequences amongst site logistics. Collaborating closely with TTW’s Digital Engineering team, an agile approach was adopted, enabling rapid adjustments to the sequencing to meet evolving site conditions. Once completed, the new Sydney Fish Market will become a globally iconic destination, anticipated to welcome over six million visitors annually. This remarkable project is a testament to the expertise and collaboration of Multiplex, Xcel Group Of Companies, Coates and TTW, whose collective efforts have brought this ambitious vision to life. The new Sydney Fish Market project is proudly funded by the NSW Government. It has been incredibly rewarding for our team to have a significant involvement in the Melbourne Airport Naarm Way Stage 2. From the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase to CPB Contractors' successful tender, we’ve applied our expertise to navigate the complexities of temporary works while ensuring the airport’s operations continue smoothly. We also contributed to the permanent certification of the development. Upon completion, Naarm Way Stage 2 will offer a direct route from the Tullamarine Freeway to all terminals, improving access to pick-up, drop-off, and parking areas. We are thrilled to see the project coming together seamlessly, and we're proud of the collaborative efforts of the design and delivery teams that have driven its success.
