A circular economy for tyres is a global issue with local solutions. Chile’s Vice Minister of Mining, Ms Suina Chahuan Kim, met with TSA CEO Lina Goodman at our IMARC stand, and we agreed that we are learning so much from each other. Chile’s mandatory tyre recycling laws are getting tyres recycled. Australia’s voluntary scheme is stimulating markets for tyre-derived material through r&d and market development – $10 million across 70+ projects. We are gaining so much from sharing our experiences and knowledge with each other. Chile’s mining environment and logistics challenges share similarities with Australia. And there are many mining companies operating both in Australia and Chile. And working with Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Victorian Government Trade and Investment Office, Latin America to support business opportunities and connections. There are so many opportunities, and we are so pleased to continue collaborating with Chile. H.E. We are Australia's tyre product steward. We help drive sustainable outcomes for end-of-life tyres.
About us
This is the official LinkedIn page of Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA), the not-for-profit organisation established to deliver the national Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS) for Australia. TSA is currently funded by a voluntary levy from contributing tyre importers and auto brands who are committed to supporting sustainable outcomes for Australia’s end-of-life tyres. Our aim is to increase resource recovery and minimise the environmental, social and health risks associated with end-of-life tyres in Australia. TSA accredits over 1,700 participants across the tyre value chain, including tyre retailers, recyclers and collectors, local councils, fleet providers and manufacturers who are committed to supporting the objectives of the Scheme. TSA also invests in market development initiatives, including research and development of new productive uses for end-of-life tyres. Through innovation, new jobs and markets are created to develop Australia’s tyre recycling industry and accelerate our circular economy. Together, we are reinventing the wheel.

Australia is working to improve waste management and value recovery for end-of-life tyres and conveyor belts, with new research offering actionable recommendations♻️ Hub researchers from CSIRO and Curtin University reviewed international case studies to find key strategies like product stewardship, banning landfill disposal and developing recycling hubs. Their findings were presented to stakeholders, sparking important discussions about shaping Australia’s circular economy and reusing resources safely. These insights aim to drive change by fostering better environmental practices and advancing onshore manufacturing. Tyrecycle and Alcoa partner to recycle old mining truck tyres 🚛 ♻ Tyrecycle and Alcoa Australia have joined forces in a milestone agreement to give a new life to old mining truck tyres. This week Tyrecycle’s recycling facility in East Rockingham, 40 kilometres south of Perth, welcomed its first load of used off the road (OTR) tyres from Alcoa. The huge 57-inch tyres will be sourced from Alcoa’s bauxite mines in the Peel and South West regions, and processed into crumb rubber.
